    Another Saab. Without hesitation.

Got rid of one 2 years ago & *did the right thing* by buying a family economical CMax.

    I hate it. :(

If i came into money i would LOVE to do a sort of DIY SOS on my parents bathroom as a suprise....

it really is awful... i would post pictures but my mother would be so embarrassed. The wall next to the bath its all brick wall where the tiles were all ripped off(DIY disaster years ago!) the shower doesnt work (broke years ago and they couldn't afford to fix/replace it) the loo and sink are pale green ...the bath is white. The floor under the bath is dipping (biggest worry !).... the wooden paneled walls are rotten .....:(

i have no idea what it would cost but it is a dream to get it done.

they never have guests over as they are too ashamed ( if it was a bedroom they could close the door but guests need to use the amenities!) my sisters boyfriend goes home for a shower and their friend/family dont stay over... :o:(

so yes i would surprise them with a whole new bathroom and for the first time in years they could have a hot shower!

    *dreams*

Wow that is such a shame - is there nothing you guys could do to even chip together and do a little at a time? Can get some cheap tiles sometimes, a wee electric shower for 60 quid?

I know nothing about bathrooms mind you so may not be as simple s that but hopefully will eventually get there for your parents!

This thread has turned out much better than I ever thought :) Very interesting to see the different answers!

It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

    A treat? Summer sandals - I can't justify £45 for a soft-bed toe-post.

And a merchant's chest - I wish now I'd bought that one in the charity shop.

But mostly my windfall would go on repairs-
New single built-under electric oven with programmable timers.
Fix up bathroom - none of the bathroom comps include installation or a plumber :( we need the immersion replaced, a new bath, plumbing for an electric shower and the new loo fitted. I've seen lovely mosaic wall tiles in Homebase - but that's as far as we've got. Could we kidnap a plumber?

New patio door - existing one is a 20 yr old tilt & glide & my worst decision ever. The lock is broken but mostly I want it gone because it falls off the track every few months.

I'd buy some things for my car: four new tyres, a service and it cleaned top to bottom! Poor thing is worse for wear at the moment.

thought long and hard, the ones thing I see every year and think if I had a large windfall I'd buy one is... a large lindt chocolate bunny. The ones with the bell and red ribbon. They do HUGE ones for about £35.

I love easter (my daughter was born just after an easter weekend) but I cant see myself ever spending that much on chocolate (in one go, if you added up my annual spend!)
