Audi dealer query

Although it shouldn't apply to main dealers you hear scams where u don't get the money back unless u buy one of their other cars.0

Sounds more like a holding deposit for them to take it off the market while you come down and view it. Otherwise you would be pretty peed off, driving 200 miles and finding it's sold.
Personally I'd call them before you leave to check it's available and then just turn up on a weekday when it's a bit quieter. Otherwise them already having a partial commitment off you diminishes your haggling success.0 -

Be even more peed off If after travelling 200 miles it turned out not to be right and they would not refund your Grand. You would need more than a salesmans promise before giving him your card details as would your issuing card companyYou scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! What about something japanese like a Toyota, because they never go wrong do they?

Congratulations! We finally have a thread about a fault on a Japanese car, the last 500 have been focused on German motors...
I exaggerate slightly, but c'mon, are you really trying to say that an Audi is a safer proposition than a Toyota?? I have NEVER yet happened upon an Audi that hasn't at least had warning light issues, often much much worse - they're terrible cars.
p.s. check post #25 CASE CLOSED! Haha. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -

Good advice.
I bought a car under similar circumstances. Some cars were at a compound because the dealer's site wasn't big enough. I just phoned to book a time and somebody ensured the car was at the dealer's site. No deposit asked or given. If they had sold it before the appointed time, I would have looked elsewhere. Plenty of cars about.Je suis sabot...0 -
If you really like the look of the car and are happy to make the 200 mile trip turn up and have a look at the car without letting them know as then you get to see the car as it is and like others have said if they already know that you are committed to buying the car there is less chance for you to get a discount.0

It sounds as if the car is not on the dealers site but in a compound , probably up the fag end of an industrial estate somewhere. Blowed if I would do a 200 mile round trip on the offchance , you could have a frustrating day.You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -

Oh I see well it seems a bit odd that they are advertising the car then - who would really be prepared to put a deposit down of £ 1000 when you havent seen the car in person yet? I would leave it in that case... there are plenty more cars (and closer).0 -
The arrogance of the VAG (and other German) dealer never ceases to amaze, but even more amazing is that people are really prepared to be treated like this.
Even before you've laid eyes on a car they are relieving your wallet of large sums for the privelidge of being allowed to view it, i'd have two short words for them the second one being 'off '.
No i don't own a VAG car, and i never will.0
