....have you had an opinion off someone else, though? Sometimes other people don't see what we see, like we might focus loads on a really small thing like 'it accentuates my back'......

Know what you mean but this wasn't a borderline 'opinion' thing iyswim.

The one with elastic that's tight on your back, would be be better one size bigger?

It would be too big round the front then though, it would be gappy across the boobs.

Strange thing....I can't find the dress I was going to take a picture of. It has vanished. I'm perplexed to say the least.

I took it out a few weeks back and got daughter to try it on, it was almost fitting her but was still slightly big. She also tried on a couple of my old skirts and they fitted her perfectly. The skirts are there but there is no sign of the dress.

OH, daughter and I have just gone through every single room in this house. It's nowhere to be found. We've taken drawers out in case it had fallen down the back, we've emptied wardrobes and moved furniture. It's literally vanished.

We haven't even made any charity donations lately so it's not as if it could have got mixed up. It should be in this house but it doesn't appear to be.

Aliasojo, have you tried this stuff on over decent underwear, non cling slips as I suggested? It makes a lot of difference.

I get very down about my change in weight, very down. I am rather vain and for various reasons my face (and what went underneath it) was important to part pod the way I made my living, so I was conscious of it in ways more than of vanity. I'm not going to say I ever feel 'at peace' with being overweight, but I do know that My Bmi most people's main concern at a wedding, more people will be looking at the bride than you, promise. And you will find something you look nice in. It won't make you thinner, but you can look your best. Promise. :).

Now, cheer up,....lots of us know how it feels, if that helps at all. ;)

If I had to buy a new frock for myself, this would be the one I would go for and accessorise with a very bold colour such as fuchsia.

I like the floaty bin bag look personally :p and on the plus side...

    - a low neckline makes boobage appear smaller
    - chiffon skims all the bits and bobs
    - the dropped waist is very Gatsby/trendy (so I'm told)

I find buying dresses on the net really difficult. I rarely find something that looks as good on me as it does on the model. If I want something for an event I have to go out and try things on, be brave, it can feel a bit depressing when you're struggling to feel good about yourself. Try to go when you're having a good day, do your hair nicely and make yourself feel great. If possible go with a friend who will be honest but will also be your cheerleader and remind you that you are beautiful, big or small, even if you can't see it.

Scroll down to where it gives you the model's height......are they trying to say she is a Size 20?! No way!

This range of dresses is the most flattering for all sizes. They are very expensive but for an important occasion they do the job. Loads on Ebay and they re sell very well too. Lots of different colour and style combinations too.

aliasojo, whenever I buy clothes online (which I don't do very often because I'm an odd shape even when I'm thin) I always get at least two sizes. Most places have returns labels included and you can send stuff back in the original packaging for free, so its not a lot of hassle.

I'd definitely recommend a second opinion, if you aren't used to dressing up and you usually cover up completely in stuff that hides you (and I do understand that impulse) you might feel as though something looks awful when in fact its really flattering but just completely different from what you've seen in the mirror every day for years!

No - I'm not even sure why you'd think that. They're giving a measurement from neck to hem.
