Sadly, I think the answer has to be no, Happybeingme. :( I'm sure a lot of members, who can afford it, are able to put a weekly sum of money/save for stamps for Christmas and that it could add up to quite a sum if included with SPC savings. So in an MSE way of looking at it, it seems a little unfair to include savings from elsewhere when not everyone is able to.

I hope folk think this is a fair view, but I'll gladly listen to anyone else's take on it - any views, comments?

Hmm, I'm only counting actual money potted that would have been frittered away otherwise...however, if people are buying saver stamps with that saved money, where's the harm in counting that?

Is there a compromise? Maybe declare actual money saved and any savings stamps etc separately at the end of the year?

Ultimately, I don't suppose it really matters - the main thing is that this challenge gets us all thinking about saving :money: :j

I've got £1.40 in shrapnel, 1p roadkill and a £1 coin to drop into my shiny new pot today :)

    PLEASE NOTE

Would the last of most recent members (names below) please alter your SPC Nos on your signatures for me? Sparky (bless him) has just bought to my attention the fact that I've made a ****up and put the last few numbers round the wrong way. :o The correct ones are below. If you could all alter them - and let me know you've done so - I'd be so grateful. Thank you, you too sparky. :T You're a star.

Thank you all so very much indeed. :)

Thrifty Fashionista, could you please kindly swap your SPC No round for me, see the correct one above, thanks.

Re the above, sparky, it might have been your pleasure, but without your beady eye, it could have been quite traumatic. :(

Rosy, I'm so sorry to be so late, but A Very Happy Birthdayto you for yesterday! I'm so pleased you had such a lovely time. I'm not putting a cake on as by the looks of it - you've had plenty already!!

Hi little_sweetie, you're quite welcome as it really merited it. T & I are doing very well thanks, I hope you & G are likewise.

OK then folks, many thanks to jakes-mum and MissE for your valid comments. I've thought long and hard about it overnight myself and maybe you're right that monies from Christmas Clubs/stamps etc can be included - BUT - as MissE suggested, please add it separately from your SPC cash in November. However, please don't do it at a separate time from your SPC declarations as that would definitely be too much of a headache for sparky & I. I'll put a notice about it on Page 1 so everyone's clear.

OK, Happybeingme, you have your wish and can add your cash (as has been said above). Thanks for bringing it up and all the best in reaching your Target and for doing better generally next year. ;)Would you please let me know you've read and understood this, if I hear nothing I'll PM you.

DH & I have potted a superb £15.50 after shopping today!
Keep on saving as hard, folks, you have just about 9 weeks left. Amazing what can be done in that time though.

  • Happy belated birthday Rosyq!

Thank you very much Sue-UU I really appreciate it! So when I list at the end of the challenge I could do something along the lines of
    '£100 SPC + £28 Mr T vouchers, £52 Mr M stamps'??

Nothing potted today as the purse is empty till Monday, but at least I'm not spending either!

I'd just like to say thank you so much for the help and support you've all shown me. As I said before, I've a long way to go to sort my money situation out completely, but for the first time ever I've got some money in place for Christmas and the debts are being paid back, slowly but surely.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening

    xx

I agree happybeingme - it feels really good having money sorted. And not potting because you're not spending is positive :A

Another wee £1 coin potted today - I don't like not to feed the pot if I can help it :)

    Happy weekend :j

Looking at your signature, I think you're doing amazingly well and you sound positive which is, I think, the key to sorting your finances out. Well done :T
