It sounds like you've got good self-motivation as well, which always helps
I sent my OH out to the shop and he's been very good. Only stuck to what he was asked to get, got the right thing and waved 7p at me and said "it's going in the pot!"
Thanks Dinglefoot! It's good to be back and more motivated than ever.

I know I am not going to make much between now and November 28th but I hope it will give me an incentive to do it. I am also sticking to only change less than £1 - things are tight enough round here as it is!
I would like to set myself a target of £20 by 28th November. I know it sounds a bit feeble but it will make a difference honestly.
Nothing sounds feeble with us, Abbylou, some of us can do quite well (now, after a lot of hardship), others struggle so very much, but WE ARE ALL SAVING!!!! :j That's all that matters, Abbylou, so you be happy with whatever you save!
It's never too late to join us, AbbylouE1. It's lovely to have you with us.Enjoy yourself saving and join in the banter. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 5 of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge.
Please also subscribe to the thread by clicking on "Thread Tools" (lower green bar) and clicking "Subscribe to this thread"...or you may lose us! To put your SPC No on, go to "Quick Links" (right side of top green bar), click and then click on "Edit Signature" and you're away.
*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.
Lovely welcomes, dinglefoot :staradmin, and jakes-mum :staradmin, another shiny star for you both. Take great care of yourself, girls.
So then, Helen, MSE is fixed again and I see you've sorted your siggy out, well done. Keep it up...you'll get there.
Nell, it doesn't matter whether it's small amounts that you're saving, you are saving and that's most important.ChristmasCarol wrote:Decided too absolutely no more pret lunches at work, very tasty but cost a fortune at least £5 for a sarnie and crisps or fruit/cake. I do try to take my own lunch to work but sometimes weaken. Shopping tomorrow so will make sure that have some basic tinned soups and sandwich fillings to last the week.
Stay true to your words, ChristmasCarol, and you'll be saving an absolute fortune. Have all the fillings and rolls/bread at home to make yourself - don't give it to them to lavish in!
How did you go with the worms, LC 2? I'm hoping at least he caught some fish with the poor little devils.sparky0107 wrote: »Good afternoon everyone
Wet & windy in Liverpool today. Spending a relaxing afternoon with my DW. Enjoying the music on Smooth FM but Emma B's voice does get on my nerves when she prattles on about nonsense! Daily £3 potted along with some extra change.
Sue I know you've had a sneak peak at the paint job, but you should see the amazing finished job. It's going to be a real head turner & hopefully show winner when we go to all the scooter clubs annual days.
BRILLIANT news, sparky!!!! How about a look at the finished article asap, please? Good to hear you & J had a lovely afternoon together. I can't do with radio as it's not good for me, another thing I always used to find though was that it's way better to listen to your own CDs, no prattling voices spoiling them or music you don't like.DomRavioli wrote: »Hi all,
Another £142 from the sealed pot, it was full so had to bank it!
Will update sig
That's excellent saving, DomRavioli, well done you!!!!! :T Thanks for adding it on your siggy, well..you won't forget will you??
I'm delighted to hear you had such a lovely time, little_sweetie, sounds as though it was brilliant!! Re the beggars, it's a difficult one, but the thing that goes through my mind is "what do they do with it"; ok if they really are desperate, but how are we to be sure? What if they spend our money in the pub...or worse still...on drugs then no way!
Oh, mishmogs, she sounds perfect in every way and no doubt with your guidance she'll become a little miss MSE too. Funny you should say that about the back sandwith and her almost drooling, but when our DD returned from Germany.....the first thing she did was want a meat meal and she'd been a veggie for a few years. Time'll tell, but good to hear how great she is.
Thanks very much, Ruth, you're a really great asset, I promise you. :grinheart
You keep up your good work also, emmita, stay budgeted and save all you can, little by little you'll get there. All best wishes for your new home.
Never mind, Willow, at least you're not spending and possibly even tempted to overspend, even by a little.Have a lovely Tuesday, everyone, stay safe, healthy and keep saving!

£5.50 potted yesterday. Found another way to save too, instead of paying £60+ a month and only watching one channel we've got rid of the tv and knocked the price down to £23 a month for the phoneline and broadband. :jS.P.C. 9 2016 No. 062 Banked £337.50

LC2, I reacon your hubby and mine would get on like a house on fire, if we introduced them they could go fishing together and we could go roadkill hunting in sparkyland togetherwe could even pop round sparkys for a cup of tea and a nice big slice of cake, he'd like that
£2 coin today in my pot :j :j though I have realised I am a prize twit  went to superdrug to get some lynx stuff for jake for his stocking thinking 'ooo I can use some of that love2shop voucher', well the till it say no, so I fire off a narky email to the company saying their giftcard dont work, send DH to argos to pick up some bits I pre-ordered and think, well he can try the card again just incase it was a superdrug issue. DH says 'are you sure you dont have to activate it?' and im sure you dont, ive carefully read all the T&C's on the back of the little card it came in and theres no mention.
Off he goes and nope, card still doesnt work  well I open the card to find the info to contact flexecash direct as it says they have 24/7 help and written under where the card was stuck is 'you have to activate this card, please visit our website to do so'obviously this is totally not my fault as only a man would write something that important underneath where the blummin card goes! :rotfl:
Oh SPARKY Would love us two turning up on his doorstep Wouldn't he be thrilled?
Had to laugh about your card just rang my credit card bank up to complain that my new card doesn't work . He had the cheek to tell me that cos it replaced a lost one it had to be activated and hadn't I seen the sticky note on the back? No of course I hadn't I wouldn't have phoned him if I had would I ?little_sweetie wrote: »Good morning all
The thing I found a bit tough in Edinburgh was the number of people begging for money along the Royal Mile. My OH stopped me from giving them anything but I felt so mean and very sad for them. What would the rest of you do?
Hello Little Sweetie
I set a small amount aside and when I have given that out unfortunately that's it!! xdinglefoot wrote: »

Thank you Sue, that is good to hear right now. Work is really getting me down so that is a perfectly timed compliment
Please could i ask for help. I visit friends every Saturday and we have just decided to try to cook very cheap meals every week to see what we can do. Could anyone suggest any, or a board i can go to? There's 5 adults, a teenager and a toddler to cater for lol.
On the potting front, I'm currently trying to spend very little money. I need to save £250 by 02/10/2013 and i also need 2 new tyres for my car so spending is at a bare minimum.Sealed Pot Challenge member #071 VSP #4

Hiya Ruth, so good it served to put a smile on your face, but I always remember that very helpful person who helped me no end with the "Reminder thread" last year, you deserved no end of stars for that alone! :grinheart I do hope work picks up soon, the cost of new tyres too, still, don't begrudge the latter, Ruth, as they can be definite life-savers!
Re the reasonable meals: Try the "Old Style MoneySaving" under the "Home & Play" part, there are loads of cheap meal to be had; search around it and look back to some good old oldies too.
Also, if you haven't already got one, then how about one or all of you investing in an Ar!os slow cooker. We bought one on special offer a couple of years ago and it does DH & I casseroles, hot pots etc which is plenty enough for 2 days so ideal for 5 and 2 younger ones. You can buy them small, med or large, though they go by liters, but a largish one of those is ideal for our DD, her hubby and 5 children.
A few veggies (carrots, suede, parsnips) with perhaps a breast of lamb, or maybe diced lamb or chicken breasts; all meat optional depending on budget and varying likes.
Then about 1/2 hour before serving pop in enough frozen peas and sweetcorn for each person and colour (well, I love colour in such dishes) and you'll have a delicious meal without costing too much - and it can all be prepared early in the morning! To fill you up a little more without too much cost, have some crusty rolls & butter in a dish and you've a very reasonable and filling meal.
2p roadkill whilst out with DH walking our hound!Have a super day, everyone, but if it isn't then tomorrow might be!
