    Hi Sue,

    SPC member 356

I saved £288 in my pots consisting of 1p, 2p, 20p, 50p and £2 coins for my big birthday in Oct. I was really pleased with this amount and I added in another £12 to round if up to £300.

Then if was enough to treat my mum and me for posh afternoon tea, lots of tourist attractions on our short break and enough left over for a handmade pendant for me and chain.

I'm back in for 2014. I've already started saving again so let's see how much I manage over the next 12months! Also added 5ps in this time around.

Thanks for running the challenge and it's full steam ahead for the year ahead. Despite a very tough year financially repaying a big chunk of debt I stuck to it and saved every coin and it worth it so much to gave that paid for holiday without skirting me.
final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333

Wow, there are lots of new people joining over the last couple of days :D It must be the time of year! Welcome everyone! :D

I am still holding onto that £5 note, but only one more day of keeping hold of it, and then I can put it into the pot just before I count the total! :D

My OH potted 5p this evening :)

In other news, I'm going wedding dress (sale) shopping on Saturday and I can't wait!!!! Lots of people at work are ill at the moment and I'm getting worried I'm going to get ill and not be able to go.

Also, I'm still knuckling down with the OU course. I'm awaiting the results of my first assignment which I'm scared about looking at...but I also can't stand the tension of waiting! I might not get the results until Sunday.

  • Acquired myself a free pot today! Found an old chocolate box in the cupboard at work which I'm going to seal and decorate on my day off :-)

    Let the challenge commence :-)

I've been sorting out my 2 boy's money boxes tonight ready to bank it and start afresh. Think I'm going to just put money given to them for presents in their's now and I'll save all the little bits in mine. Going to need as much help as possible next christmas as we're just sorting all our finances out now and don't have a budget for presents.

Oh very well put, Lynsey, and the latter saved me the bother, though I missed out on saying that earlier. Darn it, I must get tougher!

Hi Goldiegirl, good to hear you're so happy with us; I think MSE baffles us all when we first join, threads everywhere! You found us in the end though, all the best with the early retirement.

Just checked budget envelopes and found a whopping £40 saved. Guess where that's going! :D:j

What a brilliant find, Modesty, just what you need at this stage of the Challenge!! :j

ToniLiz, you know better than that, he far prefers the trouser pocket shuffle so he's never going to leave it empty ones! ;)

That's perfectly ok, sparky, it just seemed right to offer as the 'welcome' couldn't have been more perfect. Still, on the Christmas tree will be fine, though I'd love to see you scrape it off the page!

    50p potted today :o
Pay Day tomorrow so I will be sorting out envelopes and withdrawing the cash and putting different budgets in different envelopes. Does anyone else find this works? Or do they think its best to keep it all in bank account and withdraw it or use the card as needed? can't decide the best way to budget?
