There's no point giving half a story. It makes it look like it didn't really happen.

I don't put my full story on here any more because a) it's too long and b) I don't want people to publicly rubbish it. I am quite happy to PM you with it. Let me know if you would like me to.

Anyway,'makes it look like it didn't really happen'? Something life-changing happened, didn't it, otherwise I would still be an atheist!

I will say that my story does not have the type of empirical proof that some people demand. However, it was proof positive to me. I found a dimension to life that I did not know existed.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I'd be interested in reading your story, if you don't mind pm-ing to me :-)

    Thank you in advance

No Judi's not a minister, but has been described as a leader of men! (Well she misleads me sometimes! ;) )
Only sometimes? I must try harder.:rotfl:

Nobody can tell another person what they can and cannot get out of reading books. Perhaps you just didn't understand them?

The Harry Potter books are poorly written, totally derivative and vastly over hyped. I'm glad that children enjoy them because I'm happy when children read anything, but intelligent adults should keep a sense of perspective about their actual worth.

I enjoyed them - they were a nice light read (I tend to have 2 books on the go at once - a heavy and a light. HP's counterparts were Requiem for a Dream and Dark Water, ha ha!).

I agree they're not brilliantly written, but they do give a good message, and IMO, overall spin a good yarn.

If you want badly written...I was subjected to "Fifty Shades of Grey" and have never been so bored with a book. It was awful, from badly-researched subject matter to characters to grammar.

Praying? Hopefully no matter out beliefs we can all pray EL James doesn't write another book ;)

To reiterate, we're all going to read different things, believe different things, and have different opinions on everything. The world would be pretty boring otherwise!

Hi; has anyone said prayers that came true that were perhaps more than a coincidence?

When I was 23, I told God, "God, I want to believe in you. I've never asked you for anything or expected anything or gotten angry with you and blamed you for anything. Im not asking anything now from you apart from showing me that you're real. You can part waters, create the universe and all that's in it. So can you do this one thing for me? Speak to me or come to my room. You could even send an angel if you're too busy. You said one lost sheep is worth your time and I feel lost. Amen."

Well, not surprisingly, he was a no show and Im now an atheist.

    I don't believe in coincidence.
