It does clearly state in the bible "Do not put your Lord to the test," so experimenting with prayer was never going to work - actually in a bizarre way that has helped my faith a little - thank you friend.
What a brilliant get-out clause :rotfl:
But in these days of dwindling faith, I would have thought that God would leap at the chance to prove his existence.

I love the light relief you bring to threads. God knows this one could do with some (pardon the pun)
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

    No Shaz,

I attended church for many years. Was baptised in 1986. Ive sat through an awful lot of church surmons and done many, many bible studies.

Since I haven't attended church for a few years i'd be classed as 'backslidden'. I still remember a lot of bible verses though.

It does say that and it also advises that the second coming will be at a time when believers are at an all time low.

Don't get me wrong I've questioned my faith too and I'm still in that process.

Yes and I'm coming at it from an atheist point of view, I have had many challenges in my life but I have got through them without the need for a god of any description. The OP is struggling with her faith and I'm just saying that there are other ways of dealing with life, if faith is not working then try something else.

I have tried both, I was raised christian and went to chapel every week for sunday school as a child and my father still attends, my grandfather was a minister, my grandmother was a church organist. I have had religion rammed down my throat from a young age, I have read the bible and I came out of it all as an atheist. I can 100% honestly say my life is better without religion.

Can you say that you have given both a try or are you coming from a completely biased and brainwashed angle? Even if you haven't always been as religious have you ever actually tried to live your life as an atheist for any length of time?

I appreciate this because you've seen both sides of the coin.

It worked the other way round for me - I was a believer until my early teens, then became a pagan. It rapidly became obvious that no religion at all was the way forward for me. :)

Very interesting, did something happen to prompt the change?

Yes. Long story short, I saw Jesus in the lives of two Christians and wanted what they had. One of them prayed for me and slowly but surely God showed me he was real.

No-one was more amazed than me.

If you want a more lengthy story, pm me and I'll send it.

    Thanks for your advice.

To quote the bible it says ask, feel believe - what limits come with this quote when praying?

It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
