Prayers

  • I'd be interested in hearing some people's actual results of prayer.

I have many but one was for a friend who had leukemia, he made a full and complete recovery but this was the result of praying for one full year.

Years ago I used to pray for something very specific every night, I never shared it with anyone, but someone approached me one day, I knew her a little bit, but not well. She asked straight out had I been praying about the exact thing I was. There was other people stood nearby so shocked I said no. She looked confused and said God said I have to give you a message, what you are praying for will happen soon and you don't need to worry about it any longer. It did too :)

It's a good thing that god didn't tell this woman to kill her firstborn like he has been known to do in the past.

    Is that a biblical reference?
  • Usual deal on most posts from what I can see. If good things happen, it's <insert appropriate deity here's> will, and if bad things happen he moves in mysterious ways.

I would never pray. If I did, I'd be disrespecting people who believe in a higher power.

It boils my blood when people put medical successes, especially those against the odds, down to their prayers and god. Don't worry about the dedicated and highly skilled professionals who worked hard to save someone they didn't know. Don't worry about the decades of medical science that took place to get humanity to the point where it can defeat terrible diseases and disorders. No no no. It was prayer and god.

This is spot on. It annoys me when people start praising a god because a team of hardworking medical professionals saved the life of their loved one.

    But that's just your belief.

Can we please keep this thread on track in relation to prayers being answered rather than debating the existence of God?

God can and does work through the skill of medical professionals as well as what would more be seen as miraculous.

How can you possibly separate the two?
