That is a terrible case but very much an exception. Any Christian I know would call a doctor and also for prayer. The two can and do work together.

Sadly not enough of an exception:

"At least 303 children have died since 1975 after medical care was withheld on religious grounds"

I agree that one is one too many but how many children die of atheist parents who also don't get medical care and neglect their children but rightly no-one says it was due to being atheists.

How about taking control of your own life and actually looking for a partner?

Or enjoying life as a singleton, making the most of what you have?

Personal responsibility, not wishing, will help with finding love :)

I don't think that is the answer I tried and it didn't work. I asked for a great career and it was brought to me in abundance and I've no connections and never looked for it.

    Jeremiah 29.11

'For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'.

You need to place your trust in him and believe that he knows best, just as you did with your career.

Really? Well, no, noone says it's due to being atheists, because it isn't...It's due to being dirt poor/negligent/child abusers...etc.
In the first case though, the deaths are directly linked to the parents beliefs.

Simplistic analogy but...Imagine a room with 20 people in it. 10 of them believe that punching me in the face will make me a better person/will absolve me of my sins/God asked them to do it...etc.
The other 10 don't have such beliefs, although a couple of them are indeed violent people.

Which group do you think I will get the most punches from?

Sorry but that's a ridiculous comparison. A neglectful parent, of any belief, doesn't care/expect their child to get better and should rightly be held to account. The point is that these parents are choosing prayer over medical care as a means of healing their children, expecting it to cure them. Result being that they died when they could have been saved. The poor girl in the article died from diabetes, hardly an against-the-odds case if proper help had been sought.

Your comparison implies that by doing nothing, an atheist parent that doesn't choose medical attention still expects their child to recover somehow. I'd like to see something to support that is the case.

The deaths are due to the parents wrong interpretation, God didn't tell them no to get medical help.

Silly analogy as you have no reason to say that people will believe assaulting you is going to make you believe!

Many parents do nothing to help their child and just hope it will work out somehow. No different to any other neglectful parent.

  • Honest question to those who know the Bible better than me - with the Adam and Eve story, if they were the first man and woman, does that mean one of their sons had to procreate with his mother? It doesn't make sense otherwise, but I'm not sure it makes sense anyway...

    Evolution wins out for me.

I think God populated the earth with others too.
  • I thought that would have been the assumption to explain the diversity of the human race.
