My car judders

I drove in horrendous storms. The worst I've seen in this country. And spray got under my car more to it usually would. I dont think my car has been properly dry for weeks with the humidity we had before. Could that really be it?
My car is petrol btw.
You can spray it pretty well anywhere, it won't do any harm. The main places are any wiring - especially the 4 big thick ones that go to the spark plugs (in the front of the engine).
Try to avoid spraying it onto the exhaust though, because it'll smell like crazy as it burns off again0 -

Should have.0 -
Well done in having a 15 year old Fiesta that hasn't disintegrated into a pile of rust! The endura engine, even with its EFi, is a bit of a relic and you should start with the basics like drying out the HT leads and spraying around all the major electrical components in the engine bay with WD40. I doubt seriously if the previous owner would have gone to the expense and serviced it properly just a few months ago and a spark plug change would be the next, cheap-fix option.
Does the engine have light rattle coming from the top end? The mantra is, if an old endura doesn't rattle, it's a problem. Someone who doesn't know what he's doing has overtightened the tappets.0 -
I'm with Mr horner on this one....get a can of WD40, and thoroughly spray everything in sight, especially if it looks electrical.
I have a Fester, a year newer...it has a zetec thingy up front....after a recent spell of prolonged driving [wet 'n dry]...the engine idle speed seems reluctant to settle to its normal position.
Trouble is, there are so many othe things that are linked to the engine's ECU that, finding whichever sensor it is that's upsetting things is, for a luddite like me, a nightmare. [power steering pressure sensor is usual culprit, so I'm told....air -con sensor, pain in left elbow sensor.....sneezing-all-over-dash-board sensor...?]
Nothing sensible [sensor?] like a sticky throttle cable, of course. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
It has ALMOST disintegrated into a pile of rust! But yeah, it does tap. Not very much but then again it hasn't done 60k miles yet and apparently it's only supposed to start doing it around this mileage.
I have sprayed WD40 everywhere. Let's see what happens!Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. I'd hazard a guess at noxious smoke/smell inside the car until it burns off of the exhaust manifold:rotfl:
And i'm surprised i'm the only person who has mentioned the incredibly common ICV faults on these cars.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If the WD40 doesn't work how can I determine if it's an ICV fault? And how is it fixed?Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. I did say to avoid the exhaust :rotfl:0 -
If it's juddering on the move it's pretty unlikely to be the idle control valve. Do the basics first as you really don't want to be throwing money at it.0
