  • Anyone tried freedompop? They offer a free sim that gives you 200 texts 200 minutes and 200mb no fees and no contract. I'm a very low user so thinking of giving it a try as my £18 per month O2 contract is up. They use 3G network so coverage should be good but I have heard one negative comment that the lines can sometimes have a bit of crackle but nothing too bad.

My average monthly use is 100 texts 10 mins and 200-300 mb so worth a try I think and nothing to lose. They also do a deal for unlimited texts and calls and 2250mb for £6.99

Hi guys, I posted in "Vodafone Retention" thread a while ago, but no answer. Maybe here is more appropriate, as it is Sim Only I wish to enquire about.

Sorry, if my post is rather lengthy.

Can you please give me some strategic advice before I speak with Vodafone regarding an upgrade of Sim only tarrif of mine?

Look at TalkMobile. Same network, but cheaper

    Worth a read:

BT mobile are currently offering up to £90 amazon voucher.

Very tempted. at just under £15 per month for unltd mins/texts and 15GB for three sims.

On the online chat, they said each SIM will get a voucher. I have printed that but I just don't want to have an argument.

Does anyone know from experience that each family sim gets a voucher.

I've just renewed my Sim only with Vodafone for another 12 Months. 500 minutes, UL Texts and 5 GB of data. £17 PM with a 40% discount and the first 4 months free. Works out at £6.80 PM. Happy with that.

Thanks for this- my Vodafone contract finishes on the 1st and as I have already bought a handset will be moving to SIM only so the deal you got sounds like it would fit the bill for me. Be good if I could get spotify chucked in or heavily discounted.

Did you threaten to leave and request your PAC code?

I went through to 'Loyalty'/ Retention's and said I needed my PAC but that I was happy to stay if I got a good offer. I spoke with a lovely pleasant young lady and she said all the 'right' things. I told her I was going to TalkTalk as they had offered me 2700 minutes, UL Texts and 4GB of data for £5.50PM.
I was informed that the best offer was for £10 pm and that I could have the first two months free. I asked for 4 months free and after a little back and forth ("I will ask my manager", bet she didn't!) 4 months was agreed.

I pay for a Sim with TalkTalk and I'm thinking of moving that to the same deal with Vodafone. The young lady is calling me again on 3rd/4th Jan re that and my third contract due up in Feb.

    Good luck.
  • I'm on a old plan with Virgin media.
    Unlimited mins.texs.data (3G) for 20.32 a month

I had a look on there website and see they doing 5000 mins.unlimited texts and 20Gb of 4G data for 15 quid....a tenner off normal rates.

I phoned and ask about this and as a existing customer I am not allowed the discount and the price for me would be 25 pounds.

So I asked for my PAC and got told I would need to pay 104 to exit my phone contract....I'm thinking they thought I wouldn't do this.
So I agreed to pay that, and that brought about a change of attitude from Virgin, got the deal of 5000 mins.unlimited texts and 20Gb of data for the agreed 15 pounds and then another 3 quid off per month.

Ok, I gotta wait for a new sim and the new allowance doesn't start until the 9th January..

    But happy with that

Best I have been offered is £9/month for 1k mins unlimited texts and 3gb data- said I would think about it so didn't request my PAC but think I will phone back and request it and see if that has any impact.

Update: just phoned back and got £10.80 a month for unlimited texts and minutes and 4gb of data plus roaming- I know I could have tried for a wee bit more but happy with that
