I'm thinking of moving to Giff Gaff - interesting to see you say their 4G is dire. Should it not be the same as o2, seeing as they share networks?
The signal is the same, but bandwidth priority is negotiated with O2, and it is significantly slower, if you have a look on the GiffGaff forums, there's a lot written about it. If you're not fussed about data speed then I would go for it, but I genuinely think they shouldn't advertise as having 4g, as you will never achieve what most people would consider 4g speeds. Just done a speed test for you with decent 4g signal: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ryktre2srp96a5m/2016-11-01%2013.20.13.png?dl=00 -
Mmm interesting, thanks - just when I thought I'd got myself convinced on moving to GG too...eugh... but also good for the advanced warning.0

Lycamobile may be an option - some old forum threads suggest decent speed, but I'd want to hear from some current users really.0

Lycamobile don't allow tethering - counts them out for me0

Ah that's unfortunate - it's really hard to find a supplier that ticks all the boxes at a reasonable price - particuarly when you're limited by networks. Best of luck.0

Thanks - very frustrating that I'm data hungry, but text and minutes minimal! I think I'm going to give GG a go, one of the attractions is the lack of contract.0

Interesting information about GiffGaff. Ideally I just want unlimited minutes, but the data would also be nice - i don't think the speed would be too much of an issue as long as i got decent spotify streaming when i was out.
Three are currently doing unlimited minutes and texts with 4GB of 4G data for £9 a month which is tempting.0 -
Audio streaming should be fine (I stream radio) - but if you're looking stream video or download files at speed I would look elsewhere. Otherwise GG are really good, I really like their online systems, and they're very upfront about recommending downgrading to a cheaper rate if you're not using your allowances - which is refreshing!0

Anyone thinking of moving to plusnet mobile? I've always been with orange/EE and never had a problem whatever contract Ive been on. A bit nervous about moving to a new provider.0
-
The plusnet email came to me the other day at a very useful time - I'm currently looking at moving to SIM only when my contract ends (I've already moved to the iPhone upgrade plan). The plusnet deal offered as an existing customer (and possibly to new...) of unlimited text / calls and 4GB of data for £10 a month is PERFECT for me, and better value than Giff Gaff.
Also being on EE currently, I know where I can get signal etc. I'm hopeful that visual voicemail will be available to plusnet, but haven't looked into this yet.0
