Thanks for that, I'll quote him next time he posts. Just for you. ;)

You know that guy has really upset my day , I wonder if it was my smart alec post on how to block users that he trialled and it worked?
So after all the posts, it seems the overall consensus from both sides of the coin is that the OP should have taken more preventative measures and his next step is to reduce the his 'loss' and that the most cost effective way is to use the funds he knocked the seller down on (eg the £100) to make good the vehicle he had purchased and then perhaps sell it on, if he is not going to use it.

The answer is a clear no. however, the OP realised they had done that. They didn't come on here asking for sarcastic hindsight, they asked how they could resolve the situation.

It was several posts (Chris) before anyone actually tried to help the OP rather than pointing out something they already knew.

The idea of the forums is to dish out advice not abuse is all. Too much of the latter around lately.

excuse me, my post was before 'chris' and it was plenty helpful, yet the op chose to ignore it and get in to a slanging match with people for a bit.

if the op answered my query, more helpful advice would have been forthcoming, but how can advice be given if you dont kow what you are giving advice about

And that is the problem, some people choose to ignore then it is everybodys else's fault and problem.

Sorry but you do have to accept some responsibility for your decision making.

    1. You assumed vehicles were covered by eBay and PayPal buyer protection schemes - you didn't check first.

    2. You bought the scooter without viewing - did you even ask any questions to clarify the condition?

    3. You chose to buy despite the seller's poor feedback profile... the seller had only ever sold one other thing receiving negative feedback - was that wise?

    http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=codyhill311006&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller

So, I'd say that some of this does lie squarely as your responsibility.

Sticking up for the op here, you're very condescending you do realise that don't you? The op came here asking for HELP not a slating and moral punishment.

    Get over yourself. Seriously.
You have only two really viable options:

    1. Small claims court

    2. Suck it up and have the scooter brought up to standard at your own cost.

Thats actually helpful. Shame about the long rant before it.
I note you are also looking for accommodation... please don't make the same mistake with that.

    Condescending.

A near neighbour of mine, who is a University Professor, insists that the bananas in this country are poor quality as they quickly go black in the fridge.

If you don't understand what I'm talking about, you probably have a PhD.

Being highly educated is no guarantee whotsoever that anyone can cope with everyday commonsense situations, and decisions.

The phrase that I often use is:

"I know enough to know that I don't know enough."

    That'll puzzle them. LOL ;)

The link you supplied returns a page which includes
"Here is my malaguti madison s 250 cc 53 plate registered dec 03 starts and runs perfectly, very fast reaches up to 100mph very comfortable to drive has 9 month tax/mot! Has couple of minor scuffs on the side panel apart from that looks great for its age has 20,000 on the clock will do treble that and more made by yamaha good quality bike very easy to get parts and cheap to run and maintain thanks for looking at my add any questions just call or send email thanks"

So he never said it was perfect by any means, and it's a 10 year old bike, so what condition would you expect a 10 year old bike to be in?
Your Uni may have a law school there where pre grads are studying law and can look over the issue and advise if it is worth challenging, other than that see a real lawyer but as others have said we don't hold out much hope, and had you said you were going to make the purchase in the way you did before hand, the responses would be the same or similar.
I'm not so sure why you have taken offence to the replies as there is no need to wrap the replies in cotton wool, you have to accept the effects from your own actions , you are an adult now.

All of this x 2.... The description is deliberately vague..

You perceive it's a bargain, but it's not....

However when I sell something I describe it fully: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231011066320?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649

You have been sucked in, it's your issue.
