Scammed over a scooter on ebay
Comments
-
I just looked at the listing and straightaway noticed that no one (including Dave) had asked the seller any questions about the scooter.
What we can all learn from this expensive error is to ask lots of questions e.g. if he had specifically asked if it had been stolen/recovered then you've got more ammunition if it turns out not to have been as described.
Also was there only one photo - I'd have wanted to see lots more from different angles before parting with my cash.
But hey...Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0 -
Nice things happen to nice people and the corollorary is equally true.0

I've not bothered trawling through the hundreds of replies but after reading the first page and looking at the ebay ad, it's ovious the OP is a fool and deserves what he got.
look at the pics of the bike - all of them only show 1 side of the bike - that would set alarm bells off for me. Also, if i was buying the scooter, i'd at least go to pick it up rather than have it couriered - at least you can walk away if it's not as described.
From what i've seen of the OP's replies, he's a bit of a to$$er who thinks that a uni degree makes him better than the rest of us. I've worked with plenty of uni graduates and find that the majority have no common sense or life skills.
No doubt he came to vent his frustation on here after mummy and daddy refused to sort his problem for him
Wow, hundreds of posts when yours is no. 92 :rotfl:. A bit harsh as you can't be bothered to actually read what has been said.
Yes the OP has been a bit of an idiot and got a bit riled with some of the replies, but does that really justify your vitriol?

Just popping in to ask one thing, could the opp please leave negative feedback to the seller!1 This is how these people are still allowed to buy/sell on ebay.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

All of this x 2.... The description is deliberately vague..
You perceive it's a bargain, but it's not....
However when I sell something I describe it fully: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231011066320?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649
You have been sucked in, it's your issue.
Yours sounds worse than the scooter.
It's a mot failure and sounds like a right shed.0 -
excuse me, my post was before 'chris' and it was plenty helpful, yet the op chose to ignore it and get in to a slanging match with people for a bit.
if the op answered my query, more helpful advice would have been forthcoming, but how can advice be given if you dont kow what you are giving advice about
You did say it would be nice to see the ebay auction.
However, you also said:Degree level, and no common sense.... all too familiar...
What part of that patronising and insulting response was helpful?
If you'd actually stuck to being as helpful as you seem to think you were then no problems.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Apologies for swerving off topic, but I couldn't help commenting on something here.
Some of you will have noticed that I find 'German' cars VERY over rated, and I have often pointed out that people lie about never having any problems with them.
Just reading that ad, I found the following excerpts;
This car has served my Father In Law very well. The only things it has ever needed was tyres, MOT's and regular servicing.
It went in to our local garage on the 20th June 2013 for a pre MOT where it was advised that it would fail on the following:
1) Both headlamps need their beams adjusting
2) Offside registration plate lamp not working
3) Both side front anti-roll bar linkage joint dust covers deteriorated
4) Nearside rear inner wheel arch subframe mounting prescribed area excessively corroded
That's it, there were a couple of advisories as well.
Gearbox linkage and bonnet lock (both weak parts on this model) were replaced January 2013 at a cost of around £400.
There is some history with the car, not a huge amount, but it was serviced every year. I have several invoices with the car totalling a few thousand pounds worth of work.
So, did it only ever need tyres and servicing, or not??And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned this yet and the OP didn't say but, have you tried contacting the seller? Their attitude towards the situation would give a good insight into their intentions/how hard you would have to fight to get your money back.0
