  • Morning all.. the weather has kept me awake most of the night - hope everyone is safe out there.

House move ticking along, hoping to be in by the end of March, but dreading a move with two little people. Though guess lots do it and manage it - any tips?

We are having to look at changing my car at the moment, we rely on it obviously for getting to work and it's likely to start costing us a lot of money soon, so hopefully we can find a bargain.

Still no answer from the Bank re the bank charges, but they committed to be back to me by Friday, so if I hear nothing by then, I will chase. No news might be good news?

  • Result - I got £75 back from the bank. Not the full amount, but I'll take £75. Thanks to this forum for me even realising I could do it!

  • So I chucked that £75 at the loan payoff for this year, meaning I've paid off £325 of my target of £850.. pretty pleased with that..

Everything else is quiet.. house move is meaning I'm stockpiling anything else we have until we move and I get straight again with our finances.

Still hopeful of clearing at least half of the outstanding debt with the house move, if not all.. the thought of being debt free after this house move is uber exciting! (though then I move onto mortgage freedom wannabe)

Thanks for reading anyone that does!

    I'm reading :)
Even if you only manage to pay off half of debt that is still amazing.
Do you have a date yet?

Nice one on the overpayment, and exciting about the move too. Won't it be wonderful to see those debts deplete!

  • Hi Hun,

Good to hear all is ticking over ok.

We did a move three years ago with two small ones. I did them up a rucksack each filled with snacks, drinks, colouring pens / pads. Puzzles and lots of cheapy bits. This kept them busy in a quiet corner whilst we moved boxes etc.
Is good to also, if they are old enough, to pack them each a suitcase with their comforter, a book, pillow, blanket. sort of their essentials so that they don't get mislaid in the move and you have to spend hours searching for their favourite toy etc.

Other than all of that, getting a friend or grandparent to have them for the weekend while you move. But life isn't always that easy :o.

Shame on having to buy another car. We will be in that situation soon as my car is ancient. Just hoping it holds on for the next 2-3 years whilst we kick the debt. God help me if I need to replace it sooner .

Hope you are managing with the rough weather xx
  • Yey for half term and a week off with the little people. No date for house move yet, but I have started packing a little. Also sold a piece of furniture on ebay as we have no room for it in the new place. Don't feel very MSE at the mo as paying for surveys etc. Mortgage is all agreed save the survey which I don't expect to be an issue.

Hoping to get a date in next week or two so I can focus.

Little people will go into nursery for the day as we have no family locally at all. Weather has been appalling down here, Friday night was horrible with the wind. Hope everyone is safe. x

  • Hi DFOD

Good to hear the house move is ticking by fine, it's such a slow process. Keep your head down and keep plodding on.

Don't let the surveys make you feel like you are breaking the budget all the time, it's a means to an end. Paying these surveys may mean that you can kill off a load of the debt. So keep smiling xxx
  • That's true Steph! A means to an end, I guess.

Thought I should bookmark the date as well when I finally get on the weight loss wagon that I Keep falling off from. To be honest, I've not been on it and well, that needs to change, so here goes 60 pound (hopefully)
