  • Tax credits finally wrote to me to say due to hardship reasons? they will pay another £6.75 this tax year - whoop de do! Still had to ring them to say they have my childcare wrong to be told, you'll get another letter and ignore the one you have. Hope that means I'm still getting my £6.75 - I've big plans for that!! :-)

House move ticking along, I expect to get a date next week and reckon we will be moved in three wks max. Will be glad to get in and see what the finances look like and get back to tracking with a fine tooth comb.

Few big furniture items up for sale this weekend locally and hope to shift those.

Nothing else to report really. The sun shone though - that's worth mentioning - bring on Summer!

  • Food shopping done for this week and was annoyed at myself for going over budget by some 38p! until I realised they have sent too many of one item, so they took it back and yey, I'm under budget. Got extra left this month as well as I budget for a 5 week month always and obviously it doesn't happen, so will sweep that money off to the Xmas budget and the holiday budget.

Are you managing to have a clear out at the same time as packing? I can't wait until we're in a position to move, love the whole packing and setting up a new home thing!! I'm weird tho! ha!

Thats good that you have budgeted for an extra week this month and you have some money to put away for Christmas and hols.

    chat soon!

Morning all, house move is taking up a lot of time at the moment and is not helping with being really strict with payments. I'm really waiting until we move to get back to tight monitoring. We are not going mad, but there are things we are having to buy, ie smoke alarms and rubbish bins for new house.

That said, pay day has come and another payment off the loan, so debt stands at £11,080.49 (will be under 11k next month - whoop)

If we were moving, I'd pay off that £80.49 to get us there this month, but we just need all available pennies at the moment.

Thank you for reading and popping in - normal service will resume once we've moved and have broadband!

    Hi DFOD

I completely understand how it is difficult of run a tight budget at the moment. Don't beat yourself up.

There are so many incidentals to pay for and with everything being up side down you can easily get in a muddle.

Hopefully with this house move you will be able to pay off some of the debt anyway, so don't be too hard on yourself.

    Its an exciting time :T.

It is a great time to get Eb#y sales going, getting rid of things you haven't used for a year.

    Keep going xxxx
  • It will come good eventually. :)

    Well, it's been a month!

We are moved, half sorted and most incidentals purchased so NOW I am back to serious tracking.

Loan payment paid and debt stands at £10,916.28, so we are under £11k! Whoop

Now the not so fab news, we didn't come out with as much money as we thought and are unlikely to be able to pay much off the debt. We need new heating in the house, having to pay to have a pre payment meter installed, need insulation doing etc. All pretty essential stuff, so I'm just going to leave it for a while and see where we are in a few months. Hopefully there might be a bit left.

Aside from that, we are happy, so glad to have moved. Life feels a lot better and it's nice to be able to spend quality time with the little people again instead of packing!

Been to see a preschool locally where they would go for a few days, cheaper than their current one, so we will save about £80 a month.

I've also taken on an additional role at work which will bring in about £150-£180 extra per month so absolutely determined to really start working hard at the debt now.

Need to get to doing surveys and paying little bits here and there off the loan when I can. Hope to get round to diaries later, but aim to be back on here daily now.

Also - finally starting my diet tomorrow, still can't decide whether to do WW or use my fitness pal - any suggestions or opinions?

Well done on surviving the move! I'm glad you are happy, that's half the battle and will make fighting the debt easier too.
