  • Sooo good news.. the pre school we wanted have got places for us starting next week. Quick calc and I reckon we'll be at least £40 a month better off, less than I thought, but think I'd overestimated how much the fees would be at the other places. Still £40 is £40..

Another offer on the house today at the same 'low' level of the other offer, so we're going to reject that at it stands and hope they come back with more. They are both £20k below the asking price and we would ideally sell at £10k below, so they need to come up a bit. here's hoping they come back with some more!

So pretty chuffed about pre school, just have to hope my boss will let me rejig my hours slightly tomorrow!

  • 40x12 is £480 a year-that's almost your extra payment on the loan you wanted to make! so if you add that to your extra 50 a month you almost double qwhat you could pay off with money you didn't even know you had! x

  • Strange, but for the first time ever I think, I can see us clearing this debt. I know that sounds silly as we've cleared so much, but I never allowed myself to think about THE END of debt. Just keep thinking how amazing would that day be.

To have no debt, except the mortgage -that would just be amazing!

Hi debtfreeoneday, I am the exact same as you! I'm almost scared to imagine us having no debt because we've had it for forever really!

Did you try and work out a debt free date? I'm scared to try just now, incase its like 2 years away and I loose all motivation! On the other hand it would be good to have a rough idea I guess.

Great news about the pre-school, thats a relief for you. Even better with the money you will save, especially if you chuck it at the debts.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you re the offer on the house, and hope they come up a bit!! I wish you could buy a house in this area for less than the asking price, its crazy here, people pay waaaaay over the asking price, its quite a crazy market!

Hope you have a good day, and you get a good offer :money:

  • Thanks MrsSmith - I will work on a debt free date this weekend.

All go in our household here at the moment. Move to new preschool didn't come off in the end, current one have flexed on hours and costs, so it made sense to keep them there. Feel a bit relieved actually they don't have to got through this change.

Lots of house viewings today, so a bit of a write off in terms of relaxing family time, but hopefully it will be worth it.

One thing finishing on ebay today which is up to £10 at the moment, so a little bit more coming in. And still waiting for payment on another item, so annoying when people don't pay quick. I don't mind waiting for a few days if they let you know, but otherwise I begin to think they just won't bother buying it.

Have a good Saturday all. x

  • A lean weekend had by us. House viewings went well, so fingers crossed.

Food done for the week and it cost £43, so I'm under our weekly £46.15 budget.

Took the little people out today for a bit of a treat, but my lovely MIL gives us £50 a month for treats, so it came out of that.

Few surveys tonight and a few more things on eBay, so hoping this week will see a few more pennies coming in.

Debt free day worked out at December 2017, that's two years earlier than the loan is due to finish. I hope that date will move forward as well as time goes on.

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend x

  • One other thing I have finally got going on, is that little target at the bottom of my signature which I've conveniently forgot about for a few weeks, anyhoo started my weight loss mission yesterday and am through Day 1 - trust me when I say for me, that's some going!

Rang up Asda last night to moan about a squished kiwi in my shopping, refund of 30p - think the woman on the phone thought I was mad, wanting a refund for that amount! Every little helps!

  • Hi Debtfreeoneday!

Glad to hear you had a good weekend and a good house viewing, I will keep my fingers crossed this generates a good offer for you!

Also good news about the childcare, even more so if they are being flexible on hours and more importantly money. I am looking forward to DS starting school so that the childcare costs come down a bit.

Well done on the Debt Free Date, 2 years earlier than the loan is great. I'm sure it will be even closer with all your hard work and additional payments.

Thats lovely that your MIL gives you money each month for treats, what a nice idea, and what a nice MIL!

Good Luck with the weight loss mission, I always fail miserably at trying to eat healthy!! Its like money when I know I can't spend, its all I want to do, and when I'm trying to be healthy I just want to eat junk!!

    Happy Monday!

  • Evening,

Well done on all your refunds on the shopping. I am rubbish at doing this. I have always thrown the receipt away by the time I remember to do it. :o

Fab news on the DFD, sure the way you fight to get rid of your debt, that that date will be brought nearer and nearer as time goes by..
How sweet of your MIL to give you treat money each month. wish I had a MIL that would do that. xxx
