It's not just interviews, people are judged by others on what they display to others. Which is why I wouldn't get on a bus being driven by a bloke wearing a tutu and Nazi regalia.

the bus company here is quite keen on fancy dress, ie pink for fundraising for a breast cancer thing and i seem to remember a pink rabbit outfit. doesn't mean he forgot how to drive the bus!

It's not shallow, it's a very quick and useful way for humans to sum someone up.

Of course it is shallow, it says nothing about a person's deeds. How they are with their friends and family (or even strangers).

I do agree, slightly, with the interview scenario but only because other people are that judgemental. In all honesty, everyone I know who could be described as dressing somewhat differently either has a work "uniform" or a job where they can wear what they like.

I guess the crop top and leggings would depend on the job they were going for.

As long as the clothes are clean I've no objection to whatever people want to wear.

But could be quite stressful in an emergency situation when someone needs to be clearly in charge. Quite hard to take a bunny rabbit as seriously in event of a bombing, or a nasty incident on a bus.

Having clerked in caught for a few nasty crimes on transport its surprise how much the tone set by drivers can matter. I wouldn't ideally want to get on a bus staffed by a bunny rabbit tbh, though I certainly think the idea is good fun. (Very personal
Ly I'm also not a fan of sponsored op events of that nature, but recognise I am by far in the minority on that one!)
  • I care what I wear. I don't really care what other women wear regardless of age/size.
    Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
    And now the final frame
    Love is a losing game

Fair comment, how do you think that would go down with the travelling public if he was driving the all night bus at 3 in the morning?
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Its a lazy and inefficient way to make hasty judgements.

    NO NO NO

Clothes should be to enhance your appearance!!!

Not always no. Some occasions call for comfort over style, and I'd prefer to be comfortable everytime! But there's no reason why you can't have both if you choose the right things. However, when I'm just pottering around the house, I love my trackie bottoms, they don't enhance my appearance, and I couldn't care less!

I think its somewhere between the two tbh.

I think its a rare person who doesn't sometimes at least and a foolish person who doesn't consider that some people will and that it should be considered in some circumstances.

I think when you give up colouring your grey is when you are old;)

Oh ho ho ho, I'm not old, at least in my head. My body will continue to fall apart by stages and I'm definitely grey but I'm only old on the outside, not the inside. Old is a state of mind, not body. Appearance has nothing to do with being old or young.

Actually it can be quite efficient in certain circumstances where snap decisions are required for personal safety.

Uniform in the armed services is used to differentiate friend from foe.

Tattoos are used in certain tribes; again to identify kinsmen.... or chapters in certain gangs.

Even in our national sport we look at the colours the fans are wearing.

Humans are tribal in nature and will always use sight as one way to aide self preservation.
