M&S make shoes of very soft leather and (sometimes) wider fitting, usually flat or flattish. I've got several pairs of sandals, loafers and moccasin type shoes and they're really comfortable. Not as comfortable as Crocs but more respectable to go out in.0 -
I absolutely live in my Uggs. They're the classic short type in black and I wear them with everything. They aren't Fuggs, they're real- I had to beg my Mum for them :rotfl: they're especially useful in the winter at the rugby when I wear them with thick ribbed socks from Next with a pair of ankle length cashmere or angora socks underneath- toasty feet. I'm definitely bigger than a 12 (see my sig) and personally I don't give 2 hoots about what anyone else thinks, I love them, especially with my velour tracksuit, big shades and Lipsy handbag
(I'm a total fashion victim :rotfl:) I also have a pair of American Flag Converse boots, I wear black leather Timberland boots for work, my workout trainers are black and neon pink Skechers with glitter trim and I also have a pair of pink and white Nikes. My going out shoes are black sparkly high heeled ankle boots from Primark
Should I grow up and start wearing sensible granny shoes with my beige cardie?

You can get footglove heels, I wear them for work.0 -
I have a pair of Footgloves for work.
I have had them for at least 5 years.
Nowadays, I only work Thursday and Friday, and Friday is dress down day, so I wear trainers on Fridays.
So Thursday is Footglove day. I plan on wearing my Footgloves until I stop working in 2016. If they haven't fallen apart by then, I will ceremonially bin them!
Incidentally, as I have a short working week, I just keep very few clothes for work. My work colleagues must think I have hardly any clothes as I keep wearing the same things.
I like to keep my good stuff for home and going out and holidays. I've always had a separate working wardrobe, as once I've worn something to work, it'll remind me of work every time I wear if.Early retired - 18th December 2014

I don't like it when you read in the paper about "ageing" insert name of some mature celebrity or other . It's as if its an insult to be getting older . Yes, we should wear what we want but I think it looks wrong to wear certain things in certain places . Older ladies with short shorts showing their cellulite and vest tops clinging to rolls of fat might be fine for the beach ,not so fine in the town centre . It's not just older ladies that wear unflattering outfits , younger ones and men too do it . I just think there are certain fashions that are for the very young eg. Tiny shorts , crop tops . I have cardigans , slim fit jeans , t shirts etc and try to dress to flatter my body shape . I try not to judge people on what they're wearing but like a lot of people , I do , sometimes !0 -
Really interesting to get everyone's perspective on this although I feel like I need to clarify a few thing:
1. I am not totally in love with myself like some people have implied (some of that vitriol actually got me a bit tearful)
2. I love clothes and okay I'll probably end up a bit like Zandra Rhodes at that age but hey we need a few eccentrics
3. I REALLY wasn't trying to be catty or mean I was just confused by the massive transformation in some of my friends in the year I haven't visited my home city
4. I do in fact own cardigans :rotfl:
5. This is the t-shirt I was wearing:

6. This was the skirt:

OMG that skirt is so cool! In answer to your original question, I'm your age, and yes, I would wear that and the tshirt too!
Try not too get upset by some of the posts, I don't know why some people are saying the things they're saying? It was obvious to me what your post was meaning, and I don't know why some people can't see this?
Zandra Rhodes is cool btw! As is Betty Jackson!
I think it's a really interesting thread!0 -
What does dress your age really mean?
It means conform to other people's stereotypes of what a woman over the age of 22 should look like. It excludes any question of individuality, personality or alternative lifestyle, self expression or value beyond becoming invisible.Thoughts?
Bollocks to that.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

You see someone in a beige cardi and they are likely to look less threatening than someone in a gangsta uniform.
What about the phrase 'you can't always judge a book by its cover'? A guy came into the shop where I work today, with tattoos all over his head and down his face, he actually seemed a really lovely guy with his wife and baby. I didn't judge him, to do so would have been so narrow minded. Later on an old woman came in who was quite snappy and abrupt. Just goes to show, you shouldn't judge....0 -
I'm still shuddering in horror at anyone wearing a cardi in summer ... but my younger sister always liked beige and camel shades, and is more stylish than I am. There are different styles of cardi, and maybe beige is the best colour to match certain outfits.
In my early 20's/late teens I used to wear cardis with long black dresses and docs, and I thought I looked amazingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
