So how many pairs of shoes do most people own? I've got...
Too many (not 200 though!)
Mostly in boxes and unworn. Including some I bought never to wear because they're far too high for me (broke my ankle a few years ago and still get a twinge if my heel is too high) but I liked them too much to just leave there. They were £5 in the sale, in my defence :money: I get them out once in a while and just admire them.
I scull around town in fitflops or flatties. Depending on whether I've done my toe-nails recently. If they're a bit witchy I choose flatties.
At home I wear my sheepskin slippers from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed. Winter or summer.
Mostly I hide my shoes from my daughter as she's got a wider foot than me, will borrow my shoes without asking, squeeze her boats into them, put them back where she found them and then they're too big for me.
I've told her she can borrow flip flops and nothing else! So embarrassing walking down the road and stepping out of your shoe unintentionally.0 -
I personally like hair in hair colours that occur naturally.
I think when you give up colouring your grey is when you are old;)
Obviously I've been old for many years then as I've never dyed my grey hair and I've had some since I was much younger than now, probably in my early 30s. I just couldn't be bothered with the hassle and no-one ever thinks I'm my age but always many years younger so grey hair hasn't aged me.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

You wait ... one day after a night out when your heels have hurt your feet and you've walked as far as a friend's house, and they offer you their crocs to walk the rest of the way home ... you'll be hooked
No no no!
I'd walk barefoot first........(and that wouldn't be the first time for that)

I'm not guilty of doing this... no, not ever!
Dare I admit to having a few pairs of shoes on display on a glass cabinet as they're absolutely stunning to look at but I'd never wear them! :shhh:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Enhancing your appearance while dressing appropriately for what you are doing.
Wearing the correct type of clothes for what you are doing will enhance your appearance. You would look ridiculous trying to dig a ditch in heels........
I built a fence in 4 inch wedge sandals..does that count?:o
In my defence,I didn't own any 'practical' shoes and wouldn't buy any just for that.I do have a 3 inch gripped wedge pair of boots and small wedged foam flip flops for the school run now though, that's a little more practical and more comfy! If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
Really interesting to get everyone's perspective on this although I feel like I need to clarify a few thing:
1. I am not totally in love with myself like some people have implied (some of that vitriol actually got me a bit tearful)
2. I love clothes and okay I'll probably end up a bit like Zandra Rhodes at that age but hey we need a few eccentrics
3. I REALLY wasn't trying to be catty or mean I was just confused by the massive transformation in some of my friends in the year I haven't visited my home city
4. I do in fact own cardigans :rotfl:
5. This is the t-shirt I was wearing:

Up until recently, I've never enjoyed buying shoes.
I put it down to being a teenager in the 70's.
I wanted to wear platform shoes, and my mum didn't want to buy me platform shoes, as 'I would break my ankle in those things'.
Therefore the whole shoe buying process was fraught with conflict and argument.
It took me years to get over all this trauma !
Now I do buy a few more pairs of shoes than I used to, and enjoy it. But all my shoes, boots and sandals have low heels.
I find high heels so uncomfortable. I never broke my ankle in a pair of heels, but they've made my feet ache and given me blisters. So my mum did have a point!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Love the t-shirt! I want one!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I have three pairs of shoes - sandals, walking shoes, one pair of boots - and spent a large part of my day sewing up the sandals yesterday as they'd just fallen apart at the seams and I can't buy more, grrr. It feels so woefully inadequate next to some of the amounts posted so far0

I should have added that she'd said they'd just come out of the washing machine ... I don't make a habit of wearing other people's shoes
When I put them on my feet it was like getting into a warm bath ... much more comfortable than bare feet52% tight0
