I can't be bothered reading more than the first page cos I got bored, but;
1) what's wrong with beige cardies? I don't think I have one, but I'm getting the urge to buy one now just because no-one else would dream of having one,
and
2) In the spirit of this thread I'm a tall brunette/blonde/redheaded/platinum grey long-legged willowy 20-something with gravity defying boobs and flawless skin (I can be anything I like on the internet right?)
Right that's it, I'm packing my bags and and moving to the internet!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

I have trainers and running shoes as Im a fitness instructor and need to have pairs of trainers that I can rotate
A few pairs of heels that Ive never worn as I broke my arm a few years back on a night out while wearing heels, heels werent the cause of the fall but Im still wary
And a couple of pairs of pumps as I like flat shoes when Im going out
Not really a shoe person tbh, I do have a mighty impressive handbag collection and its taken me a year to work through my perfume stash, almost done now though.0 -
I'm now worried.
I own.....Converse..Ugg boots.....Rockports....Birkenstocks....Nike trainers.....Sketchers trainers.....and some FitFlops (among others)
At the age of 46......should i give up now?
All hope is not lost though......I will NEVER own a pair of Crocs!:rotfl:
You wait ... one day after a night out when your heels have hurt your feet and you've walked as far as a friend's house, and they offer you their crocs to walk the rest of the way home ... you'll be hooked52% tight0 -
Enhancing your appearance while dressing appropriately for what you are doing.
Wearing the correct type of clothes for what you are doing will enhance your appearance. You would look ridiculous trying to dig a ditch in heels........
When we clear ditches its usually pouring and muddy. We are wearing wtaerproofs over fleece pjs. Because its the most practical combination of warm and easy to wash and hose down. However hard you try you get covered in mud, soaked through, mud in your face and sometimes hair. Its usually in high rain when there has been a blockage and your trying to stop something flooding. Its often when you were about to go to bed, or were doing an early check and feeding at five am.
You really, really don't care what you look like. What ever you go out looking like you'll come in looking the same. Only if you are less stresses and disappointed you might still be smiling and laughing a bit, which is invariably more attractive, especially in the face of drama.0 -
Back to the OP.... I think as long as you really look at yourself in the mirror and see what others will see, then there's nothing wrong with what you choose to wear. Maybe ask a couple of friends what they think your look says about you. Of course it's all very subjective but from your description, I would describe your look as studenty & unsophisticated and probably conclude that you were left-leaning, feminist, probably earning a below average income!
I'm a similar age & have been trying to revamp my look as I think I've been stuck in a clothing rut. I'm trying to go for: chic, sexy, sophisticated & stylish. Admittedly somedays I'm way off the mark but I'm definitely more conscious that I should dress for my age!!0 -

When I said dress to enhance your appearance - while dressing appropriately for what you are doing...........
Wasn't referring to midnight emergency situations.
And to be reasonable I think it goes without saying, but I think people look to take offence or find an extreme obscure example of "but............"
And yes, people look much better smiling.0 -

RESPECT! I am not worthy.0 -

The point is, that's when most people dig ditches! (The examples someone else raised, not me). If you are in a digger, then do reason you cannot wear heels. Except if there was an accident, it would be trickier to get out etc.

But anyone would look ridiculous wearing heels in a digger or digging ditches.0 -
