Not the best last couple of days....the new glasses made me vomit, unfortunately, I had forgotten to take my dental plate with my two front teeth on, out first, didn't realise and flushed them down the loo.
Expensive £340 mistake that was!
Thankfully we have a great dental lab here who made me a new set in less than 24 hours and I can now go out in public once more.
Oh Sue! Hope things look up for you now. <hugs>
How are things with youngest and school?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Watches:
1 is nice, but only if she will wear leopard skin.
2 not very easy to tell the time
3 looks like a 6 year old's first watch
4 looks too manly
5 is pretty and would match a lot of outfits, I like the Dali script
6 another one that makes it difficult to actually tell the time
7 quite nice, not sure if it looks pretty enough
8 works if she is a girly girl, may be a bit young and limited in outfits it will work with.

I am a hard working family! We tried to teach Avatar-dog that he was not allowed on the furniture. What he learnt was that he was not allowed on the furniture when we were there. I remember coming downstairs to fetch a book or something when we'd fairly newly got him, and hearing him hurriedly getting back off the sofa as I came down the stairs. Later, he got bolder about it, and if one of us came down after we'd gone up to bed, he would be there on the sofa, with his head down on his paws, his ears flattened down and his tail thumping, looking up at us with a slightly guilty look as if to say "You're not going to turf me off, are you? Because I'm allowed on here once you've gone up to bed, aren't I?"
Westie is allowed in the sofa but not in bed.
He is also not allowed on the food preparation area in the kitchen, but that's where I found him a few days ago gobbling a lump of butter. Stood there with his moustache full of butter, ears flat (guilty), but still that look on his face of 'am I doing something wrong?'0 -
Almost as bad as Jeremy Kyle, I am watching the Matthew wright programme. They are talking about teachers and a male teacher on a phone in is talking about how he is discriminated against because he is male and parents dislike this. I hate to say it, but of he were teaching a kid of mine my problem would not be that he is male at all, not one bit, it would be his appalling abuse of the English language and over employ of clich!s.0

A question for any plant-growing NP who happen to know (lir?, jelly?)...
I have a couple of calamondins in my conservatory. The fruit stays on them for ages. It looks quite pretty, but what I like best about them is the scent when they flower. So, my question is, will removing the fruit make them flower again sooner, or not make any difference?
Thanks.
Usually the removal of fruit encourages additional flowers to develop, to create additional fruits. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

How are things with youngest and school?
Unsettled but slightly improved from Monday and Tuesday. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Just been on a phone call with a customer service person to problem solve and, be being me, it got quite chatty, at the end of the call the advisor said, 'god bless you, maY god bless your path I will remember you in my prayers"' happily and I said, oh that's sweet, thank you, I wish you well too and have a super Christmas . (Bit early, but hey ho, had to say something better than...'have a good one' to such a sincerely kind thing to say)
Now, this is the second time this week a similar 'godly' message has been offered to me, and personally, I rather like it. Its kind, well meant and no skin off my nose, even if i am not of their faith (which i presumed to be Christian) But it does It occurs to me that the customer services people risk both abuse to themselves ( or complaints) and offence to others.
am struggling to empathise with those who take offence at such a well meant thing to say, and I think if I can get opinions on 'the other side of the argument' to help me appreciate the other pov anywhere it would be amongst nice people.0
