So it's fish and chips night? Followed by banana fritters?
Nope, that's not it, no more than Christmas is just a big bird (or respective national meal) and pud, but ......well....doughnuts count for a lot, huh?
What food people eat will depend on their family and national besides Jewish heritage. There are also things like the lighting of the appropriate candles on the menorah each night and various prayers and stuff.
DH will ( cover your eyes silvercar and GDb) probably respect his heritage with a fry up at the weekendand doughnuts and reading lots of recipes to suggest fried food. I'll probably, this year, offer latkes, as I have been eating potato latkes every now and then because I know they are relatively safe food for me. Ironically, I do them in a non stick pan and add no oil when its just me,
I'm going to get the actual stroy wrong if i try so not going to try but the festival is specifically about the usuage of oil0 -

The white bits on the map are (allegedly) the only countries in the world that Great Britain has not invaded.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I always end up buying gifts that I'd like myself. This way, I get them too!
Reminds me of my friend who always bought his mum chocolates for her birthday/mothers day.
He only did this as she was permanently on a diet, so would give them back to him to eat after thanking him profusely! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Viva/doozer/others, thanks for the feedback.
She wears black, a lot. Loves colour though (current fave appears to be purple(!) I think? Wears a lot of colours - light blues, salmons, peachy pinks etc in summer. Occasional white/cream colour outfit.
Viva, I picked out the test-card style one as she loves kids tv (dangermouse, postman pat, roary etc...) But I take your point.
Like I say, thanks to everyone, as I'm struggling to get the right one, so input from other people really does help. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Beyond cheeky.
I was opening them sequentially (and one aunt a time) but couldn't make comparisons that way.
They were very different and I didn't have a clear idea of the person you were buying for from them.
What kind of shoes does she normally wear? And bag? Does she wear any jewellery almost all the time? What colour is it?
Edit...ok, cross posted. That rules out the second to last I think, brown animal print? (Although it sounds like it would go with her summer wardrobe, and I didn't hate it personally.)0 -

Could just give DH a fried egg sandwich.0 -

Correct.
We light candles.
We eat donuts, little ones. This festival is 8 days long, so fat donuts for 8 days would have us ballooning.

I did care enough but I have no idea
Soviet mode comes in here.
The Russian empire invaded Belarus and Mongolia, but as far as I'm aware, never the British Empire?
Also, with Britains historic links with Sweden and Catholicism (Vatican), this may be the case too?
ETA: Didnt read page 436 before posting, and I didn't dissect this; it was one of the Georgian delegations, with a degree in European History.💙💛 💔0 -
