This has happened twice before and each time I have ridden to the rescue. As it happens OH was abroad both times. Last time there was a scene when I left. I have now said that I can't do it again for a good few weeks. Sibling needs to pull her weight IMHO. Problem is sibling has kids in school, so she is reluctant, but her husband works from home 2 days a week so could, with a bit of effort, look after the kids. Add to this she is planning on emigrating in a few months, so will do nothing from that point and she lives nearer than me. Sibling feels I can drop everything because I don't have childcare issues and work for myself.

So to clarify, sibling is not ok with disruption to her children in school, yet is willing to disrupt her children by emigrating in a few months.

No you are not being unreasonable. She is relying on guilting you.

What a nice man you are :)

It's always going to be hard - it will partly depend on her age and what brands she normally wears, as well as what the watch looks like. I like both the Betsey Johnson ones but prefer the one with the bird and flowers. Very pretty.

    Valid points:

    she's late 40's.
She's not a brand person. Whenever I have known her go shopping, there's only 1 word/question "is it pretty?"
she likes the more unusual/quirky/unique style.

    Oh, & thank you!
I'd like to help, but I can't. I've not got good taste for starters.

Personally, I don't like any of them.

If I HAD to choose, it'd be this one: http://www.watchshop.com/ladies-lipsy-watch-lp124-p99950123.html because the bezel's quite nice and the straps's an animal print.... but animal prints are a Marmite thing for people: they either love them or loathe them.

    Sorry.

She likes animal prints, so it is a help PN!:)

    I've been Money Tipped!
    I was surprised too!

Must be something posh people know about ... maybe one way they can spot peasants :)

All the easier to shoot them if they are shiny in daylight

At least it'll give you the "feel good" factor of knowing you can enunciate properly .... although you do come from an area where they speak funny, so maybe not :)

I come from London. They speak funny there as well though I didn't realise Londoners had an accent until I'd been here for a couple of years and watched a news item where they interviewed Londoners in the street. The London accent is really harsh!

I don't have a regional accent, but whatever accent I do have does alter according to who I'm talking to.

Ah well, you can't go far wrong with animal print if a woman likes animal print! I wouldn't deviate from that.

Hi Jelly, what I thought I'd do is guess the type of person who I think would wear each watch and you can see if any meet her description...

Can I ask NP opinions, especially the ladies please?

I have a very good female friend who nearly died. For christmas, I want to get her a watch (time, geddit?) - (she has mentioned needing a new watch too).

Can I ask for opinions on the following options please:
1 http://www.watchshop.com/ladies-lipsy-watch-lp124-p99950123.html. Nice watch face but strap is quite brash. Would suit someone very extroverted and out there. Would not be suitable for someone who regularly wears patterns that aren't animal patterns as would clash.
    2 http://www.watchshop.com/ladies-oasis-watch-b1383-p99963040.html
That's pretty, but would be very hard to read if like me you are now getting a bit older and your eyesight isn't what it used to be.
    3 http://www.watchshop.com/unisex-timex-originals-easy-reader-watch-t2n791-p99957107.html
I really like this one. It is quite plain. But but this only for someone who wears white as white doesn't suit everyone. If she can't wear a bright white (as opposed to a cream or beige) don't buy it.
    4 http://www.watchshop.com/unisex-d-and-g-medicine-man-watch-dw0514-p99934369.html
It's hard to see beyond my own prejudices with this one. I think it looks like a man's watch. I think it would appeal to someone who watches a lot of sci fi and is quite individual.
    5 http://www.watchshop.com/ladies-betsey-johnson-watch-bj00131-09-p99964865.html
Nice watch for someone who likes their jewellery and precious stones due to blingy face would not necessarily appeal to someone with plainer tastes.
    6 http://www.watchshop.com/ladies-betsey-johnson-watch-bj00084-25-p99964863.html
This is pretty and girly. My only concern is that it isn't the easiest to read.
    7 http://www.watchshop.com/ladies-guess-3d-animal-watch-w0056l2-p99954245.html
This would suit someone with "Autumn" colouring: reddish hair, fair skin. Someone who wears a lot of brown, green, earthy tones.
    8 http://www.watchshop.com/ladies-guess-icon-squared-watch-w80056l2-p99938164.html
This would suit someone who wears a lot of pastel colours.

I'm terrible at making decisions too!:)
    Thanks in advance.

I did care enough but I have no idea

So do I. I had a shire accent, then moved to Aus and had an aussie accent, then moved to a council estate and picked up an estuary accent. I move between accents and can't help it. I swear people think I'm mad.

DH can tell which library I've worked up from which accent I bring home at the end of the day. I get "oh for heavens sake, stop dropping your 'h's and pronounce your 't's", or "you're sounding a bit up yourself". He has a stable shire no real accent thing which I'm very jealous of.

I can't decide whether I am being unreasonable or measured.

Parent is considering another procedure which would involve someone staying with her at least overnight and she would prefer for longer.

You are being reasonable. This is your sister's opportunity to share the care of your mum. Even if her OH had to take a day or two of holidays it would be reasonable.
