I am far more confident in a working environment than a social one. Unless I am very very sure of all the people I'm around.

You lot border on the people I'm sure of on here, however wierd that is.

The problem with working for yourself is that people think that you don't actually work. She should help as well.

But, the problem is mum expecting you to be available even from a distance? It would be easier on everyone if she were nearer to you, especially with the emigration issue? Could it be a negotiation tool, or is she looking forward to moving?

You are being reasonable. Where they emigrate are they planning on ' granny comes to visit' room?

Yes, SC, I think you are being reasonable, too.
SC, no not at all unreasonable. We all have difficult circumstances one way or another, all things are possible and your sister needs to spend a bit more time and do her 'bit' while she can.

    Thank you!

Granny has declared she ain't visiting far flung places. On principal and because she feels the journey would be too much for her.

The move is meant to be happening, but finding a flat that ticks all the boxes is proving difficult. Partly because too many boxes have been put on the requirement list!

And you can't even build it in this country because [a] Plots aren't readily avilable Plots aren't where you'd want them to be.

If you could simply drive along a street, point to a spot, a space magically appeared and PP was granted, the plot cost only £20k and all builders were quick/good/honest life'd be sweet :)

No, then she would think there must be something wrong with it because it is so cheap!

I gathered my spirit, ready to face the world, pop to the big shops to just collect a short in supply christmas present for DD, then do the school run.

It's all wishful thinking. I've managed a shower and got myself half dressed before coming back to lie on the bed, exhausted. DH is away, I now have two hours to find the reserve for school run.

This is hell. Jeremy Kyle will be on ITV2 shortly. I may as well embrace and watch it.

I can't decide whether I am being unreasonable or measured.

Parent is considering another procedure which would involve someone staying with her at least overnight and she would prefer for longer.

This has happened twice before and each time I have ridden to the rescue. As it happens OH was abroad both times. Last time there was a scene when I left. I have now said that I can't do it again for a good few weeks. Sibling needs to pull her weight IMHO. Problem is sibling has kids in school, so she is reluctant, but her husband works from home 2 days a week so could, with a bit of effort, look after the kids. Add to this she is planning on emigrating in a few months, so will do nothing from that point and she lives nearer than me. Sibling feels I can drop everything because I don't have childcare issues and work for myself.

An extremely unpersonal/dispassionate way of looking at it (apologies):

Sibling appears to feel they have little to no responsibility now, s there is another sibling who can do their bit.
Will sibling feel this way when it comes to the reading of the will? Or will they argue for their fair share? If b), then they should contribute equally too.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

What a nice man you are :)

It's always going to be hard - it will partly depend on her age and what brands she normally wears, as well as what the watch looks like. I like both the Betsey Johnson ones but prefer the one with the bird and flowers. Very pretty.

I'd like to help, but I can't. I've not got good taste for starters.

Personally, I don't like any of them.

If I HAD to choose, it'd be this one: http://www.watchshop.com/ladies-lipsy-watch-lp124-p99950123.html because the bezel's quite nice and the straps's an animal print.... but animal prints are a Marmite thing for people: they either love them or loathe them.

    Sorry.

At least it'll give you the "feel good" factor of knowing you can enunciate properly .... although you do come from an area where they speak funny, so maybe not :)
