I think I'm going to have to start collecting ideas. E.g. I have some ideas for colours I like, but not sure which room to use them in. Good job I've got plenty of things to do before I'm going to be buying any paint. (though I might buy some bright paint for inside kitchen cupboards and 2 built in wardrobes...)0 -

If you're fun, be fun.
I am not grown up. I have a thing about lights. My latest addition, to go with my teacups, bowler hat and top hat lights is this one.

In fairness, it was one of those in bath non-slip mats, which couldn't justify as needing. If it had been an towelling on for next to the bath, I probably would have bought it
I really like that lamp. Would never have guessed it came from Debenhams...0 -

It is a good thing, but get testers, paint them on a big piece of paper and get them in rooms now. See how you feel about them over time..
Colour therapy is a bit naff....but some is true. If a colour relaxes you use it somewhere you relax...
Work with light....some colours work better with east/west light. (Funny but true I think).
When I paint I ALWAYS get the collywobbles and think 'I've got this wrong'. Always. Even when I know its looked good on card for months. Dh is always a brick and says....if its wrong we'll just choose another colour. That simple solution is the answer to everything. (But probably also partly why with my often bold wants for colour I am a but wary of wall paper...more investment to change)0 -
If you let someone park on your driveway for over 30 years without permission and without your doing anything about it, then indeed you have a problem. However, it's not just a legal problem. You have procrastination issues.
My friend just bought a house where the neighbour has been parking their caravan on the previous owner's drive for the last few years. It sounded like a total nightmare. He learnt all about prescriptive easing. In the end I think he just gave the neighbour the bit of the drive he had been using (the caravan was only usually a foot or two over the boundary) just to make the headache go away.
I think I would have paid someone to steal the caravan and then just put a fence up.0 -
I'm just watching Martin on ITV. He just had up a lovely Christmas offer predictor in the style of a calendar. It's very clever as they'd analysed what the retailers have done in previous years and predicts when discounts will happen this year. It's things I've taken advantage of, like cheap Champagne, 20% off at Selfridges, 30% off at Gap etc.
It might be good for NP to keep an eye out for their Christmas shopping bargains. There's a link on this website which is handy, but not quite as good as the visual on the TV.

Given its rarity value, what sort of apple will you choose? We are big Royal Gala fans but don't mind Pink Lady or Golden Delicious, not too keen on the softer, mushier varieties.
I am not a big apple consumer, however feel nostalgic for russet apples when I see them and usually buy a few. Then I bite into one and am reminded that they taste like wood, and that when we scrumped them as children we usually had a bite or two the chucked them away.0 -

In our first house there was a small section of our garden which our neighbours drove across to access an additional parking space they had created in their garden.
We were quite happy with this as it meant they did not park their second car in a shared turning area which would have been a source of contention. When we were deciding to move we sold the access rights to them for a couple of hundred pounds. It was valuable to them and neighbourly parking peace reigned.0 -
Interesting to see the comments about the TV programme on here.
I haven't yet seen the programme but - purely from what you're saying - it seems as though the angle of the programme was rather different from the battle which has been played out in the local press over the last few years.
Overwhelming public consensus has been completely anti-property owner. And that's not to do with the NT.0 -

Oh, that's interesting!
Give us the other side!
Yes it was entirely from the angle of the property owner.0 -
OH is trying to claim on her mobile phone insurance. They have told her that unless she can produce a household bill from the last 2 months with her full first name and last name on it, they will not pay out! What kind of ludicrous policy is that! Initial + surname is not acceptable to them.
I sense a very long winded complaint and an ombudsman referral coming up.0
