But there was a point when the lady's own lawyers advised them that they were in the wrong. Then, the lady went to the archives and *proved* there was parking in the courtyard before 1980, which just vindicated the NT's case.
I've never got on the wrong side of the NT, but they could be tough. In this case, though, they seem to have been right to prevent the hoteliers' Anschluss.
I never spotted the nasty QC, but he sounds like a pantomime villain. He also died early, so nobody came out of this very well.
Oh, I agree.....but I think that it was symptomatic of the way NT act. I certainly wouldn't have bought that property with that issue myself.
The Qc wasn't that early a death. The hotelier guy was younger.0 -
If you let someone park on your driveway for over 30 years without permission and without your doing anything about it, then indeed you have a problem. However, it's not just a legal problem. You have procrastination issues.
This just reminded me, at another house we lived in the neighbours 'stole' a bit of the orchard which was at the end of their garden. My parents thought about it and in the end decided to sell it to them rather cheaply. They decided ill will in neighbours was too expensive at any price but that giving it away opened the door to more trouble.0 -
The NT is an absolute stronzo
We came close to taking them to court 20 odd years ago.0 -

I wonder why?
The stories I could tell of their goings on around here would appal people.0 -
Remember the "double your house" episode with Sarah Beeney, that featured a house not too far from me?
The side fence was down today, so I could see into the back garden. It is about 35 foot long; wider than it is long. But still who would pay the £2.1m the owner claimed it will be worth for that size garden, when the gardens of nearby houses are 200 foot?
Much amusement, there is a tree root the builders are trying to remove, using a standard digger with a scoop end. Weren't making much progress, three hours later they were still attacking the same root by just bashing it with the scoop thing.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. After all the discussion of the word 'baby' yesterday, this song has been in my head all day:

That's very practical, but Nikki's choice is very, very elegant.
Naturally
As we were going around Ikea, I was trying to explain to my mum that I'm going to attempt create a grown-up, non-studenty atmosphere in my house.
Shortly after that I was very tempted to get a crocodile bath mat (from the childrens area).
It's going to be a struggle0 -

I scoffed at first, but the architect had us make mood boards for each room. . It really does help one focus.0 -

You need to buy a copy of livingetc magazine. Anything goes in one of those houses, if you want justification for a crocodile bath mat.
If you're fun, be fun.
I am not grown up. I have a thing about lights. My latest addition, to go with my teacups, bowler hat and top hat lights is this one.

DH hates it (ho hum), but there must be a lot of non grown-ups out there as it's out of stock again. I got mine the day it came out.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
