The post's very well-arranged in our block - there are 12 boxes, each accessed from the main hall with an individual key, and a box outside with the flat number on it.
The numbering of the flats is a bit more eccentric - 1 and 2 on hte ground floor, 3 and 4 downstairs, then 5 and 6 on the first floor.
I've just got up again, having worked out that even my extremely patient OH might get tired of me wriggling and kicking him, so I'm come upstairs to make a nice cup of camomile tea before trying to sleep again.
I'm feeling very sick, and for the first time, quite chuffed about it!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I shouldn't say this, as it's the NP thread, but probably you ought to take the plunge and buy somewhere. Your benchmark lowest-risk strategy is to own a place to live, and at the moment you are shorting property compared to your benchmark. That's quite a brave thing to do! Interest rates are low and property prices are rising, at least in the very short term, which is as long as my extremely cloudy crystal ball can see. So, you may be better off making a purchase that isn't 100% perfect than leaving things much longer. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Hope things are ok NDG xx
Welcome to the thread Loanranger, we're a friendly bunch, although some (ahem, me) are a tiny bit strange at times.
To give you some info on me, I am from Outer Herts, Jewish great grandparents, love mushrooms, not a scientist but it is one of my interests, of the lower socio economic status, divorced and a cat owner.
Oh and I have 3 sons who drive me up the wall at times! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Its funny how we describe ourselves. I would definitely have included your boys in a description of you, but the income thing ? Doesn't define you at all. I think of books and speedway.0 -
DH cannot remember what he was trying to say when I heard 'I'm an onion'. He said this I'm the only person he knows who can say how sick they'd re in the morning and then go on in the same breath to whine that they want coconut pancakes and bacon bananas.
well I do. I'm not having them, but I can want them.

I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking, which is more or less the only game in town. There is speech recognition software built into Microsoft Windows, but I have not tried to use it seriously.
Dragon sells several different versions of their software, but I cannot see much point in buying more than the basic version. I see that the basic version of the software is only £43 on Amazon at the moment.
You do need a better microphone than usually comes in the box with the basic software. I strongly recommend buying a USB microphone, as most of the problems people have are with the built-in soundcards in their PCs. (The USB microphone has its own soundcard as part of the USB plug or cable.) This one is okay for £25. http://shop.nuance.co.uk/store/nuanceeu/en_GB/pd/ThemeID.26429600/productID.254178900
I am using quite a low power PC (core 2 Duo processor running at 2.2 GHz), and I really feel that the software would benefit from a better processor. Unless you are into video editing or gaming in a big way, speech recognition is probably the most processor-intensive application you will run.
If you need any more information, please just ask.
Many thanks. Dragon is what has been recommended. I may be back with questions...:)Is it really wrong to scoff the mini-chocolate bags (mars, malteasers, twix) that you'd bought to give to trick n treaters ... ?
(There are still quite a few left but it's not the most healthy breakfast / lunch I could have found ... )
Not so bad round here. Mainly very little children.
We have a rule that after 8pm, we don't answer, as T&T is for little uns, & by that time they should be back home.Doozergirl wrote: »I bought some sweets just in case, but nobody ever comes here.
I had an argument with BT on the phone. The woman was vile, no empathy at all with an attitude of "what do you expect me to do about it".
I was on hold for ages, spoke to her, then she put me on to another department who can't actually deal with me 'yet', then finally billing. Of course, after 45 minutes on the phone and getting nowhere, the billing lady was lovely. Do you know that feeling when you're really wound up and then someone is nice to you? I did what I do when that happens and burst into tears.
I really hate talking on the phone so difficult phone calls are a particular trauma; I wish I wasn't quite so emotional. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
The only trick-or-treaters we had here, by arrangement, were a group which included Isaac, the girl from the top of the block, and her mate from down the road....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I ended up with two piercings in one ear because one side healed up and I thought I'd get best value by still having two piercings. Clearly, I was sufficiently young that I didn't just ask for one ear and a discount!
I had my nose pierced when I wanted to be Tank Girl and nearly fainted near the bus station in Ipswich. There is no evidence of that piercing having happened now. Then I went with a friend to get our belly buttons done and I did faint after she had hers done. No more piercings for me.
I was a rubbish goth.
I've never had my ears pierced.
I don't wear any jewellry. I don't own any.
Can't stand necklaces/things round my neck (must've been hung in a previous life?) & can't see the point in rings etc.
However, I did spend many years with my eyebrow pierced & a ring in that. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Are you well NDG? Feeling good in yourself now? Did the rest do you good? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0

On reflection I've decided that this is no where near as bad as a person I know who coats brussel sprouts in chocolate for Trick or Treaters!:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
