I'm with Doosergirl on the annoyed-with-fireworks business. I had to take my dog for a constitutional this evening but the fireworks were an unexpected non-bonus (shoudl that wordd be minus?).

Wondered if theres' a cultural festival holiday celebration going on near us in SW London/Surrey? Checked it out on the London Second Languages map but none the wiser.

    Hi Loanranger! :hello:

The questioning continues. Do you have a dog, or a cat? Unclassifiable hybrids are not allowed:naughty:

    Hi zag. Diwali celebrations?

On a totally different note, do any NP know why my low energy bulbs give up after about 18 months, even though I've bought cheap and expensive ones to try to make them last?

I'm totally distracted from the article by the illustrating mappy thing which looks like a lump of fat....

The same site that gives the Second languages map also supplies a crude ethnic map of the city.

Diwali might be answer. but it doesn't start till Sunday ( I think).

    Thanks for the lovely welcomes.
No animals except two fish ponds full of, well, I'll let you guess.

I had a little kitty who sadly went to to big cat basket in the sky and has not returned, so far, though I sometimes imagine she's in the kitchen if I go in there without switching the light on.

To recap, I live in Outer Hertfordshire. Had to read a long way back to figure that one out. I don't have tramp stamps. I like mushrooms. Latin is not in my repertoire. No Jewish connections. On the last census I claimed to be an atheist. Science, nope although one of my degrees is a BSc. My ears are pierced but grown over again, does that count?

I could be wrong about the date. I also read that in Ireland they set off fireworks at Halloween as Guy Fawkes Night would lack a certain appropriateness / relevance. They celebrate Halloween bigtime in Scotland (where I'm from) but keep fireworks for Nov 5th.

I thought the bit about the cat basket was poignant. Besides, you can't be a true NP until you've had your first posh alert from Pastures.

    Thanks viva.
I miss that kitty very much.
Pastures, where are you? You could be calling a Pretentiousness Alert here.
