So much to read!
First, hope NDG has good news today, she has been in my thoughts a lot since her post yesterday.
I have a great nephew due to be born shortly and so babies are on my mind at the mo. Must say, I preferred the olden days when gender of baby was unknown til that moment of birth. Hope this doesn't cross the line of offending anyone here.
Second, am delighted that PN has called me out on the posh alert thing. I now feel that I might be acceptable having had an alert but not sure it was accurate. It was a pretentiousness alert, strictly.
I'm married, love jewellery. Currently reawakening an old interest in making jewellery in a small way. Have all the gear but it was a fad and I tired of it.
Don't like cooking or baking but like reading about how it's done. Looking at the pictures of baked items is good, too, and easier on the waistline than tasting. I'm probably more interested in how Mary Berry can wear make up at her age and get away with the foundation sinking into the creases. I suspect she wears false eyelashes. Oh the horror!! That's something I have never done.
There's obviously one, or maybe two ill NPs here and don't want to pry but hope you're coping with it all.
I am grateful to Doozer for the fireplace links. One of the links for the slate leads to a place only about 30 miles from where I live and may well go and take a look as am in the market for new fireplace. A niece had a bath stone fireplace installed recently c/w clearview wood burner. I suspect that it won't be lit more than once. So that's explaining whereabouts I live without saying upfront. It's definitely Outer Herts.
About Facebook, I love it. I am involved in several secret private FB groups where we can get together and chatter, like here, but no-one else can see. I set up a couple myself and they're all transatlantic groups with a common interest that drew us together. All harmless. Nothing sinister.

I did long ago used to cook souffle but it is a bit of a faff and haven't done it for ages (pretty sure not since we have had kids).
I had forgotten about fish, we probably have white fish once a week and tinned tuna does feature at lunch times although I am not a fan personally. We used to do fish in foil but fresh fish is silly expensive.
I know you don't need protein (and specifically not a lump of obvious meat type protein) every meal but I guess you just get so used to it that a meal just doesn't feel complete without it.
I may do a souffle this weekend although my to do list means that spending time on cooking is probably going to be difficult.
When you get backin habit its a doddle, a souffleeway quicker than mince.0 -
Actually a secret here not using anyone's bandwidth would be a good idea.
Loanranger, NDG and pn also make jewellery. And foundation primer is your friend .0 -

Thanks.
That's auto correct, a lot are me though:o
Right...... I'm going to try facing the day.......
Today my legs are so weak I cannot wear trousers because they are too exhausting for my thighs:rotfl:
I'm going to pull on a maxi dress instead.
DH prefers women in dresses anyway. 0 -

Pasta putanesca? (It's quite funny finding a 'nice' translation for the kids if nothing else).:D
Pasta itself will have a fair bit of protein in it because of the eggs and strong flour.
What about liver/kidney/black pudding etc? Cheap, very healthy (unless pregnant re liver). It's hard to think of a quicker and cheaper meal than flash fried liver. It's cooked in a minute or so.
Then there's cake. Sugar and chocolate are basically vegetables. Eggs for protein.0 -
On eggs, I've been having big debates with my mum about eggs.
I only do free range eggs. So they're more expensive (pennies). The difference in taste and goodness blows that out of the water.
Mum buys the cheap eggs. I got her some free range, & showed the difference in size & colour. She was surprised.
Dad was instantly won over (he loves an egg sandwich!) & was able to pick up on the huge improvement in taste. Mum wasn't so sure, but I think she's thinking with her wallet, not her tastebuds.
Battery eggs, as well as immoral (imo) are a false economy. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Mmmmmm black pudding.........

I can see it's getting colder in England as you've gone back to typing with your mittens on :T
I love your misspellings and typos. It's very human and fun to work out what exactly you're trying to say.
It's a bit like talking to an amiable drunk only without the annoying bits.0 -

Chickens of the nation thank you Lj.
The mixed weight free range eggs are cheaper I think?
Real free range are better still, when we buy ( premium) eggs and compare them to Home ones we get very smug.
