    Sorry, I've been occupied here.

Very glad I traveled yesterday rather than today.

Storm here has been uneventful, some roads flooded but not in this part and a few twigs off trees. Bit of a storm in a teacup. Whereas at home, trees have blocked roads, no trains all day. A friend needed to travel on the east coast line, got a taxi from home to Kings X and sat on the 7.35am train waiting for it to depart until 15.35 - he eventually got to his destination at 8.30pm!

Yesterday was so bizarre. At one point I looked out the window and my garden looked as though it was in a blender. Later, I was walking to work. None of the houses had power, so everything looked unoccupied. This was reinforced by there being no children walking to school, and all of the commuters had clearly stayed home due to lack of trains. All I could hear was diesel and petrol generators, chainsaws and the alarms on houses that beep when there is no power. I saw nobody though. It was strangely post-apocalyptic.

I have just tried the lactose dress milk silvercar suggested. Its the best alternative so far, but a bit sweet.

Sex life is a bit of a distant memory now! Actually, I can't imagine a new chap in my life at the moment, it would feel like being unfaithful even if Mr Bugs would never know and if he ever did, would probably not understand.

@ Spirit, a friend gave her then four year old son the 'special hug' talk when he asked about where babies came from and was feeling quite pleased with herself until after a pause he piped up, ' Can I watch Daddy give you a special hug?'. Subject was changed very rapidly!

Went to see Michael Portillo last night talk about his political career and train journeys at the local theatre. He was very witty and entertaining.

I am going to show my age here...why do married couples need to use these for contraception.

I am assuming it is safe because of the 'married' bit. That is how I think it works.

In our particular case, we found that condoms tend to chafe. DW did not want the contraceptive pill, because of health concerns over long-term use. She was issued with a diaphragm, which she was not always assiduous about using. After child no.5 came along rather unexpectedly, she went on the pill.

That's why we're both fussy. :). Some of the new ones really are really incredibly good.

But I'm extremely possessive about OH in an intimate sense. I couldn't ever be one of those women who can manage to turn a blind eye.

Leaving aside a relatively small number of "open marriages", I doubt that many women are prepared to turn a blind eye. However, when the occasion arises, they find they have very limited choices. At least, I assume that that is why some women remain in abusive relationships, rather than fleeing.

Many people do not have your education, your ability to earn a living independently, and your supportive family. In the absence of those, they may feel trapped.

No, I really talk about sex like this in real life. :o. ( DH does not)

DH is on the phone now and I'm saying spirit and gdb222 will be horrified and DH is saying 'why, its you, and you're right, people should wear condoms '.

I'm lost. What should I be horrified about? I need to know, so I can work myself up into a frenzy of indignation. :)

Similarly, I never, ever criticise OH either in front of him, or to other people, about anything that matters. So I'd tease him about how he often assumes that someone'll be around to be Butler because he's forgotten his keys, but never about anything important (not, I stress, that there is much that's important to criticise about him!)

How does this work if you do have serious issues to discuss with him? Do you always manage never to be critical? Do you never argue?
