I have a once-yearly retinal photograph taken. That also involves drops in the eye. I ask them to put the drops on the skin in the corner of my eye (near the bridge of the nose) and just let the drops trickle into the eye. That works well, without any fisticuffs at all. If they insist on trying to put drops direct into my eye, they soon find out how hard I can struggle.

Aha, so it's not just me who wants to fight back? :D. I never do I hasten to add, its just I want to. They won't do the trickle in thing, and always tell me off 'that's not sterile' they say. But then, they also look at me like I am the daughter of Lucifer for wanting to flinch.

LIR, this video is nonsense, isn't it? Heroic dog, or just ordinary canine friendliness? http://uk.news.yahoo.com/video/heroic-dog-blocks-baby-crawling-113500007.html

Dogs really can and do guard and fret, particularly over babies. Its not clear to me what that dog was doing. Usually if I'd expect some head low posture, maybe even a little nip to shoo baby away, or a nuzzle.

    Not all dogs.

Dog dog couldn't give a monkey about babies. Big dog adores the borrowed toddler and has patrolled when ever he is here since he was a baby.

Edit....we used to leave borrowed toddler in his car seat in the car when he was asleep (his mum and I) and big dog sat by the car. We'd check every few minutes that he hadn't woken up, but if he did wake up, big dog would immediately alert us. Also, no one but his mum or I was allowed near the car. Not even people she really likes. She's not that bright though and I'm not sure she would have stopped him swimming. Her breed were specifically bred for that sort of protective and nannying role as well as hunting.

OH finally (must have been waiting a month now) got letter through confirming appointment date to see specialist for initial consultation. Given a date in February! Totally ludicrous. NHS is a joke. You all need to pay more tax so we can get an earlier appointment.

february is fast, only 4 months away.

some people have been waiting 3 years :)

    .

Its hard enough sorting things out locally. Eyeclinic, is , IMO, horrid. Way, way worse than colonoscopies and any sort of injection (accept lumbar punctures in hospitals that feel grubby). And they always get cross when you flinch when they put eyedrops in...surely everyone flinches....they are putting stuff in your EYE!!!!!!

Tbh, I thi they are lucky I flinch and don't reflex slap, I do indeed hold my hands so worried am I that I might try and push them away :(

Funny the things that we all react to isn't it. Anyone else have eyeclinic, I am guessing my tests and drops are much like ones for diabetes or stuff......

I don't flinch but I have been wearing contacts for 10 years so stuff in my eye is not such a big deal. as I wear rigid gas permeable lenses as well, my eyes are used to having stuff in them..

How is your sejourn in the big smoke?

DD1 came first in the 'B' race, DD2 came 4th in the 'A' race, the whole thing seemed to drag on for hours, I spoke to various parents who I have obviously met before but don't recognise.

Went on to see the architect, we will probably try again next week. Tomorrow is lettigs agents, so far one has suggested a price which is probably too high but I suspect they want our business and think that is the way to win it. I would rather just put it on at the right price and get it rented rather than hold out for10% extra and lose a few months rent.
    I think....

Judge from others on the market. Incidentally I have noticed that rightmove and zoopla seem to show far more rentals than a couple of years ago.

While we are on topic, views on living on the third floor with no lift?

Eye drops: opthalmologist pulls down lower lid and drops them in, I don't flinch. In fact I then have to be told to blink lots as I don't blink automatically from having the drops put in.

Edited although I'm not sure what I was giving away...

    Nothing, but maybe enough.
Thank you for doing as I asked even if you didn't agree :)
Clearly my powers of persuasion are sharpening ;)

So... back en Angleterre and I switch my phone back on. 1 voicemail each from my solicitor (yesterday) and estate agent (today)... we can exchange and complete on Friday
Except, I'm away from Sunday until the following Sunday so I think I'll suggest we exchange this week and complete when I return. I feel like I've spent enough time waiting for the other side so they can return the favour.

Wonderful news and I don't think it is unreasonable for them to complete at a date that suits you. The offer of furniture and a new offer of any help with transporting stuff still stand.

Edit: I forgot to make a joke about French kissing before and it is probably lucky there was no mention of letters...
    I think....
