My debt busting diary!

Grrr so need to get back on track. So so mad at myself for letting things slip
As usual gone slightly over budget with the Christmas pressies, deciding at the last minute a few more little bits were needed. Also have treated myself far too much this month and as a result the overdraft is back up at around £100  The plan is to replace some of this out of my Christmas money. New year resolution - learn to resist a bargain!
Credit card payments haven't been on track either  as some of the money put aside has been used to purchase my Robbie ticket and pay my share of the hotel.
So confessions over! Need to start they new year in a positive state of mind and get things moving. If all goes according to plan I should clear the card by June. Would love to make this a month or two earlier so need to have a mass declutter and eBay / boot sale it all.
In other news I lost 0.5 lb this week - not fab, but definitely more than I deserve. Falling off the wagon there a wee bit too!0 -
So the OH been paid today - a whole 6 days early! Nice in some ways but it's going to make January such a long month!
Time for my monthly update then .......
Overdraft was £0 now £114
Credit card was £2792 now £2725.38
Total added to debt =£47.38 :mad::mad::eek:
Way way way off target!
Weight loss I'll update after my last weigh in before Christmas - that's not looking too fab either
Swagbucks - swagged £5 agc and eBay sales £29 before fees (pretty obvious these didn't get chucked at the debt tho!)
Soooo kick up the bum and time to get back on track .......
Goals for January:
1. Pay off £400
2. Keep food shopping below £200
3. Keep Christmas weight gain to a minimum
4. Lose 4lb off pre Xmas weight by end of Jan
5. Swag £15
6. eBay at least £30
7. Restart present box with genuine bargains only!!!!!0 -
Had a nice productive day today. House been cleaned top to bottom, fields cleared before the rain came, chilli and lasagne done in slow cooker for the freezer and a batch of mince pies made.
Have started a eBay box to chip away at after Christmas really need to brings some extra pennies in.
OH expenses claim came through in his pay packet. I've put £300 to one side for the start of an emergency fund - feel a little better knowing it's there just in case.
Got another busy day tomorrow - lots of pressies to deliver!
Merry Christmas everyone x0 -
Hope everyone's had a fab Christmas.
Had a mooch round the sales yesterday and was very well behaved for me. Just spent a gift card and around £10 in boots.
£50 of my Christmas money has been sent across to my od account. Hoping to clear the remaining throughout Jan with eBay sales etc.
Have signed up to 20p challenge and £365 in 365 days in a attempt to hopefully get next Christmas sorted.
Right better get off my bum and walk the woofs!0 -
Have just listed 9 items on eBay and will use the proceeds to chuck at clearing the overdraft (again  )
Have started a spending diary to try and find out what happens to all our money. On paper we should have a decent amount leftover to chuck at the card but in reality it's never as much as it should be. Must be good and fill it in religiously.
Food shop yesterday - have stocked up on a few offers for the freezer. Hopefully should only need Aldi for the fresh bits from now until next payday. Also started a new savings stamp card. Did this for the first time this year and found it really helpfull.0 -
hi ScattySkewbald
I own 2 mares - one is a bit scatty lol.
Just wanted to wish you well in your efforts to get rid of the debt.0 -
Hi LAM2011  always good to meet another horse nut on here!
A bit of a spendy day today - took advantage of the body shop sale and a £25 off £50 spend code to make a start on next years pressie list. Managed to get £107 worth of goods for £25 delivered so can't moan.
This afternoon I've sat and made a list of all birthday and Christmas pressies needed for the year. Hoping to fund most of it via the £365 in 365 day challenge. Determined to be organised this year.
Got a day of housework to look forward to tomorrow - house is in desperate need of a tidy before I go back to work on Thursday.0 -
Happy New Year everyone!
Time for me to get refocused and re-energised.....
Financial aims for 2014:
1. Pay off overdraft £114
2. Pay off credit card £2725.38
3. Pay insurance premiums up front
4. Pay for road tax annually
5. Build up emergency fund of £2k
6. Save £2.5k for new car
Personal aims:
1. Always look on the bright side of life!
2. Reach target weight of 10.5 stone (1 stone ish to go!)
3. Take better care of myself
Going to set up my signature to track my progress. Really need to make this the year that we get back on track and get things sorted - no excuses!0 -
Good morning!
Spent last night inputting the contents of my spending diary (that I've managed to keep updated for a whole week) into a house budget app on my ipad. Need to sit down later and get my head around the actual app itself but so far it looks pretty useful. It has shown me how quickly those odd £3 or £4 supermarket purchases add up
Popped to the bank yesterday and paid in my Xmas money. Have nothing in mind for it at the mo, so wanted it out the way before it starts begging to be frittered away.
One of my eBay items has a bid on it - profit to be chucked at the remains of the overdraft.
Took advantage of the debenhams blue cross sale and 10% code and managed to get my friends little boys birthday present sorted for next month. Very happy with my bargain :j
Cancelled an order I'd placed on amazon for a curling wand and then reordered it as the price had dropped by 20%. The old me won't have bothered with the hassle but £4 is £4 and it was a bargain to begin with, so again I'm a happy shopper! Have wanted one for ages so put some of my Xmas money to good use. Fingers crossed I can use it successfully when it arrives!
£200 chucked at the credit card. Hoping to be able to add to this throughout the month.
OH has had confirmation that he will be paid a petrol allowance due to the increased mileage he has is needed to do for work. Should work out at about £200 per month, so am going to use this as the basis of our emergency fund.
Right off to walk the woofs and sort the ponies before the rain arrives. Have a good day0 -
A couple of my eBay items now have bids and hopefully if the buyers pay up it should mean that the od is once again clear :j
Few essentials picked up in Aldi and did the homebargains run for loo roll etc - hoping not to have to venture into town again. All spends added to my home budget app!
Getting back on track with swag$ - aiming for £15 a month. The amazon gift cards made such a difference to my Christmas spend this time round and need to take advantage again - £15 per month would give me £165 by November.
Today's gonna consist of walking woofs, sorting ponies, putting the Christmas decs away and a general tidy up. Weather looks grim so will spend as much time in the confines of our four walls as possible!0
