That simply doesn't make any sense....unless you specifically chose to 'save' it as a file that only Winrar can open.

You cannot 'save' something with Winrar.

You simply save the .iso image to your computer. Why do you insist on trying to open it?

I repeat, you should not need to open the file at all.

I just clicked on that link and clicked on save which SHOULD save the file as it is but on the download box its showing that winrar box or books, whatever that logo is, I know it should save as what it is but for some reason it's saving in a winrar file so once download has finished there would be a winrar file on my desktop.

I know this doesnt usually happen as I have downloaded things plenty of items and it never saved in winrar just saved normal as it is even though it was unreadable.

Sometimes winrar considers iso's as it's own. It is just an iso and treat it as such. That is to say; don't open it, just burn it using nero or the like.

Anyway..... as long as it is an .iso image it doesn't matter. Just follow the instructions, given at 7pm, to burn the disc in Nero.

I think I've mentioned that...progress is just too slow.

Ok. Didnt know that winrar at times recognizes ISO files as its own.

Anyways, tried using Nero to burn the file but the size is like 735mb and my cd-r only takes 700mb:confused:

    That's strange, it's written that is 698.7MB.

Q: I downloaded a file but it is a RAR file, what do I do with it?

A: In all likelyhood, you do not have a RAR file. No offical source is providing the Knoppix files in RAR format and it is unlikely that unofficial sources are either. From past experience we know that it is most likely that you are allowing Windows to hide file extensions from you and you only think that the ISO is a RAR file because of an ICON accociated with it. Windows should never be allowed to hide file extensions. Go to My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View and turn off the "feature" that hides file extensions (It may be -> View -> rather than -> Tools -> for some versions of Windows).

If you have "extracted" any files from the file that you thought was a RAR file, delete them. If you have deleted what you thought was a RAR file (the ISO file), you will have to download it again. You can not put the files you extracted back together and make another ISO, parts will be missing.

'Hide operating system files' is the only option ticked. The other option 'Hde extension for known file type' is already un-ticked.

Why is size so big? I cant uninstall Winrar as there are a lot of files which depend on it.
