When you got to the partition stage, it will tell you how large the existing partition is currently.
Have you tried pressing 'R' repeatedly whilst the CD is loading initially?

Yes, pressed 'R'. No Luck. The size is 112957mb in the partitioned space. Also, there is 8mb free space on the unpartitioned space.

Sorry went out, back now, hopefully this can be fixed tonight.

    Thanks,

I also downloaded that file you said I should burn onto CD via Nero. I think I got Nero working now.

Anyways, how shall I burn it? The file is in Winrar, should I extract all the files and then burn them onto CD? Or shall I just extract a few files and burn them?
  • - Usenet post with link to ISO image of the Recovery Console here.

    - Also, from here:
Microsoft provides software for creating a set of six diskettes for reinstalling Windows XP for those with no bootable CD.The details are here. It doesn't seem to be widely known but these disks also contain the Recovery Console. Thus creating this set of diskettes will give those without a Windows CD (but with a floppy drive) the option of using the Recovery Console.
The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.

I really don't understand you having a Winrar file. It should end in .iso
I'm seriously considering doing the job myself.

So, there should be only one file, plus may be .txt file containing instructions.

You know what. Forget this, its just too much and Im really taking the P out of everyone here.

I'll just re-install Windows and partition the file meaning data would be lost. I got most of it on email, its just a few pages of work which could be done again in a few hours, better than spending more hours on here trying to recover the data.

Thanks for the help guys, am going to install Windows cleanly again.

Thanks again for the help :money:
