It is about the fact that.......renting sucks! Better to own a 1 bed flat than rent the same.

And what's wrong with being snobby Melissa? Personally I prefer to have the best I can, or not have it at all. I'm not putting anyone down who wants to start at the very bottom, I personally don't.

And unfortunately my spending aint likely to be in this country, ..so fueling the world economy yes! (though I doubt 25k will make much of a difference to world economics).

Lol at phirefly, I too have been checking out ppls pics! .. made my Friday afternoon a bit more interesting!

The fact I can't afford the kinda property I want in the area I want, so I'm gonna have a damn good time with my deposit money instead, and live for today instead of tomorrow! ... seems quite a lot of folks round here don;t ike that sort of carefree attitude though...... oh well, talks all sor of folk to make the world go round.

And renting a one bed place at moment is MUCH cheaper than any mortgage i could get, so I'm happy renting at the moment keeper. Each to their own eh? ;-)

But if the best you can afford is a one bed flat "in a grotty area", and you're not happy with that, you either need to reduce your expectations, or continue to rent rather than buy.

Nobody is forcing you to buy a property you don't want.

Thank you Melissa, you're right, no one is forcing me, and I'm not going to reduce my expectations either... so renting it is, and I'm happy with that. ................I'm happier still with the flights I've just booked!! ;-)

"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

    You've got 2 options:

    1) Rent and pay somebody elses mortgage
    2) Buy, pay your own mortgage, and in a few years take the next step up the ladder..

I know which one I would choose.

Dont give up, even though you cant afford the place you want right now, you might be able to in the future if you play your cards right.. (and wasting the 30k is the wrong hand to play)

Or go on holiday - decide you prefer it there. Buy a house outright for say - £20k, get a job maybe teaching English for pocket money & leave you still have £10k savings. Might happen.
