He's just bitter. Knows full well that spending that 30k is a stupid thing to do so is trying to drag you lot down with him.
Go on holiday sure, but anyone blowing 25k when they only have 30k quite frankly, stupid.
I don't mean 30k is a small amount either, I mean 25 of the 30 is a lot to spend. He will end up in DFW, and he will regret peeing it all up the wall. To many of us are testimonies to this.0 -

Scouser, a 'crash' won't be just pure 'misfortune'. Misfortune implies it was a random event upon which the poor person had no control. Collectively, as a society, if the market crashes, we'll have only ourselves to blame for our need to own property and BTL and second homes no matter what. If you're in your house to LIVE there, and not to make money, then why should a crash bother you? If you've bought to make money and fuel the ridiculous game of ever-rising-house-prices.... then a crash would bother you and you'll loose out,........ and I'll be laughing out loud whilst sipping sangria ona hot sunny beach somewhere.
Anyway I honestly don't think it will crash, A correction for sure, but that's no bad thing surely? ...
Graham, I was without this 30K last year and living very comfortable and debt free on my salary back then. I'll blow this 25K and still be living debt free and very comfortably but with much happier memories! ... If not I'll buy a nice tasting hat and eat it! ....I see your point about ppl in debt, but I'm pretty good with living within my means and even putting a wee bit aside for the rainy days. Just not htis time... time to LIVE!0 -
If there is a major correction or whatever you want to call it, i hope the greedy people who bought houses to make a profit are forced to bend over and take it like they have been 'owned'0

Go back to your bankrupts Southern Scouser, you have nothing to add here Mr. Do-gooder.
I think there are a sh*itload of FTB that feel the same way.
My advice? SAVE, invest wisely in recession proof shares etc.
Our time will come, you WILL have the pleasure of taking these overspent monkeys houses off them for cheap...
I'm really looking forward to the repo house auctions in 2-3 years time...0 -
I've only been looking at this board for a few days but already I have to say this is probably one of the most interesting threads i've read.
We have sold our house (for the 2nd time - a long story which centres on crap EA's and stupid buyers) and are looking for somewhere to live. So far we've found two house suitable for our (hopefully) extending family both of which needed refurbishment. The first sold before we could make an offer and the second needed 15 grands worth of work but the owner wouldnt budge on the price. It is a complete nightmare and soooo frustrating!
As long as you're sure its what you want fimonkey, good on you and have fun
PS. What about a trip on the Orient Express? Complete luxury :rotfl:0 -
Here's the rant.....
As a FTB with a good salary (30K) and good deposit (30K) I have finally been priced out of the market for the area I live in (Christchurch/ Bournemouth). All I want is a nice little 2 bed place with a private garden, but now all I can afford is a grotty 1 bed flat in an over-developed area, and this ridiculous further rise in property prices has happened in the past year!! (this time last year I could have afforded what I want, however this time last year my dear mother was alive and therefore I had no deposit together from the sale of her house recently).
So THAT'S IT! I'm OUT of this stupid game!!! Good luck to the suckers who intend to continue to work their assess off to afford a leasehold cupboard! Ha ha, skit! and no sympathy whatsoever from me IF there's a house market crash (I personally don't think there will be, but I'll be laughing the loudest if there is)!!
Meanwhile I'm taking my deposit and booking myself a damn good luxury holiday. :j My late mother would have wanted me to be happy, and a holiday will do just that! Then I'm gonna go buy a whole new wardrobe, and perhaps throw a couple of parties. Life is for living right? Well being a frugal-boring-old-paying-60%-of-my-salary-on-a-mortgage isn't what I call living!
And finally I feel relaxed!.... Off you all go now little ratties, carry on with your big important race!
So you think because you earn £30K per year you deserve what you want?
You arent even buying with a partner to boost your income amount.
Go and throw your money away on a luxury holiday. When you come back things will only get worse. In a few years time your £30K per year will only mange to rent that 1 bed grotty place let alone buy it.0
