Although they have made it far easier for everybody to claim and be sucessful following Huzar and Dawson cases.
Your experience is probably a small exception to those generally on this forum.

I suffered a delay with easyJet. I found claims handlers online, and tried one of them - Bott & Co Solicitors. I sent them details of my claim. They replied nearly TWO WEEKS later saying "Unfortunately I do not think your claim qualifies for compensation". But my claim DID qualify. In fact, by the time they bothered to reply, I had given up on them, had applied direct to easyJet, and easyJet had agreed and paid up in full without argument.
Moral: Bott & Co are misleading, at best, and not recommended.

Your experience regarding the 'performance' of Bott & Co. is unusual as by far the vast majority of claimants who have used this firm have been happy with the service they offer if the posts on MSE and other forums are to be believed.

You are to be applauded for fronting your own claim as obviously this results in no percentage payment to any NWNF thus in line with MSE 'policy'. I would add I did not use Bott & Co for my own (court) claim against Monarch.

Very unusual indeed, Bott & Co are usually applauded on here for their very high standards, and don't forget they famously represented Mr Huzar and that's why many companies like EasyJet are now paying claims.

It could indeed, be argued that without Bott & Co - perhaps EasyJet wouldn't have paid up!?!?

I suppose any company can make a mistake but I can only echo what JP and 111KAB have said they are highly regarded on here.

  • Hi
Initially I claimed for me and two children, 12+ delay from Heathrow to LA in 2013. Offered £300 voucher which I refused. One month ago after listening to Money Box and reading various articles in Sundat Times and Saturday Guardian, I copied my first complaint to BA (you complain online and I always take a copy and paste into a document before I press the send button).
Hey Presto, they upheld my complaint and asked for my bank details and a week ago £1500 approx was deposited in my account.
Many thanks to Paul Lewis of BBC's Money Box and Martin Lewis of Money a Saving Expert

    Well done!!

In your case it seems to have been a fairly straightforward claim, dealt with in a responsible way by BA.

There is so much for airline such as Jet2 and others to learn from cases like this.
Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.
  • After two and a half years Thomson paid up in full for a nine hour delay. They settled a week before the Court appearance. My only tip is keep as much paperwork as possible, note any contact, and go through small claims court. Go to the Court as soon as possible. Give the company a reasonable time to settle and then start the court process. This seems to focus the company.

I first contacted Thomas Cook about a 3 and a bit hour delay to Goa in Feb 2010 in July after providing them with boarding cards and so forth they put the case on hold at the beginning of September.

Once the Jet 2 decision came in in November I replied to their email requesting they re-opened our case their response was to ask for proof of travel again even though they had already issued us with a case number. Duly provided and claim accepted.

Yesterday they issued us with a £710 holiday voucher valid for 12 months in full and final settlement. I have just rejected this and requested settlement in cash. Hopefully it won't take them long to pay out.
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p
  • I have tried to make 2 claims against the usless Thomson's at the beginning of last december and have had nothing back from them.Has anyone had any success from this company?
