An odd one, possible scam from postcode ub18 7nl

I got one of the envelopes today, same as everyone else. I noticed that my name is printed as initials and my surname, the only website that I have used recently that has my name written in this way is Amazon.

We received one of these envelopes earlier in the week, addressed to our son who moved out 4 years ago. I texted him to ask if he knew what it could be and he didn't know, so I told him what was on the envelope and he googled the address, then sent me the link to this thread. I just binned the discs.

In my case all Amazon etc orders are sent with my first name (and Amazon have never had my middle name, or even initial*).

My guess is, as several others have pointed out that they've received them under unmarried names etc, that whatever list is being used is either fairly old, or possibly an aggregation of multiple other lists.



*I can't off the top of my head think of any company that has my middle initial other than my bank.

I also received these dvds. They were sent to my parents address, I haven't lived there for 7 years. Not expecting anything like this I opened them in front of my mother, my brother and my sister-in-law. Queue the next half hour me being the brunt of porno jokes from my brother

They also had my middle initial. I can't think of any online retailer that I've used that would have my middle initial. The only times I can think that I might have used it online would be the likes of comparison sites.

I received the same discs in the post and assumed it was one of my mates playing a prank. I even posted a status update on facebook saying I was unsure whether to spend the evening watching Eastenders, Fresh Faced F*****s, Breast Strokers or College Virgins 2.

Having run out of mates to interrogate, I came to the conclusion that darker forces may be involved and turned to the fountain of knowledge known as Google.

Just to rule out a couple of the suspects mentioned above, I haven't purchased anything from the named ebay sellers. I have purchased from Amazon, but only using my business address, not my home address to which the !!!!!! was sent. I have used Go Compare and Money Supermarket though.

The other thing that may be relevant given that there was a documentary on Panorama last week saying that dating websites sell on personal details, I have been a member of various dating websites. I realise that some of the posters above are married but have you been on a dating site prior to getting married maybe?

Well, I've heard not a word from 'the boys in blue' and this seems to have died the death. Glad to see that there has not been another rush of posters receiving these DVD's.
