I definately agree with pania.
If you are comfortable with the 5k distance, six weeks is ample time to prepare for a 10k. Build up gradually but stop a bit short of the full 10k so that you are saving your best performance for the day.
Also try to taper. Ease down on your training during the week prior to the event.
Above all enjoy the event and let us know how you get on!“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
Hi Cnoelj
Do you have any tips for training for 13 miles  We have done up to 9 and are going to try for 10 this week and have less than 3 weeks left - panic is slowly setting in.............0 -
don't panic!!! you're doing ample already to get round comfortably on the day. you'll be amazed how fit your body is without realising it.i manged 15 miles non stop during the marathon, my longest training run was 9.
But keep pushing the conmfort zone a little each time you go and relax in the week running up to it.
Hope you're ok? catch up soon?debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -

Clearly I'm not over excited or anything :rotfl:
Today me and friend decided today was the day and we ran......(drum roll please!) 11.86 miles in 1hr 57 04
I am absolutely gobsmacked that we did it - had 4 stops to drink some energy drinks, ate a piece of chocolate at beginning and middle and stuck to a very steady 10 min mile - even after 10 miles we found a new burst of energy. We didn't stop to walk for more than 2 mins in all - it was fantastic.
So I finally think that yes I can do the North Run and finish it. I'm sure my joints will seize up soon but I care not, I am out tonight for a meal and some dancing so will probably be crippled tomorrow
Just thought I'd share anyway (*sneaks off quietly to the corner after being far too enthusiastic about it all * )0 -
