jenjade - just let us know what it is you are doing, what you are aiming for, how fast you go, how many times a week etc - then we chivvy each other along to go further and faster, no matter how bloomin cold it is outside

Hello JenJade and welcome - as Hypno says really0

Hi Jenjade, welcome along!:D
Getting started is a big effort, so well done on that.
As Hypno said you must have a reason that prompted you to get started with the most common ones being to lose weight, to get fitter, to run a 10K charity race next summer or to run a marathon in some distant point in the future.
It really doesn't matter what the reason is, its whatever you choose, but the purpose will determine what kind of exercise you should be doing which is why Hypno was asking questions in that direction.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Lose a stone? Easy peasy!:p
No, I'm joking it does take some effort but its more about consistency than doing anything hard. I'm talking from a background of having lost 4 stone in the last 18 weeks or so.
The great news is that the slower you go and the less effort you put in the quicker you will lose weight, with the ultimate weight loss exercise being walking.
You burn the same calories by covering a mile regardless of whether you walk the mile, run it in 15 minutes or run it in 6 minutes.
However, the slower you cover the mile the bigger the proportion of the 100 calories burnt is provided by fat, the quicker you cover the mile the bigger the proportion of calories is provided by glycogen, which will need quickly replacing.
So slow miles and walking is your answer to a level you are comfortable with. Don't do anything that feels like a strain. Once you've lost the stone you may feel like getting a bit more ambitious .....Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
