Ooo just read back through the posts I missed during the day - very well done Sally.

8 miles is a good workout at any speed and shows that you can still be ready for FLM.

What did you think of the new plan btw. Too hard/too easy/just right?

Good weekend morning one and all!:D

Just off to do the 5K race and discovered the temperature right now is
    -8c!!!!

It was mighty cold on Tuesday doing the interval session when it was -5.5c, so this is going to be interesting to say the least.

Its so cold that I'm almost considering not running in shorts!!:p :p

    Morning All!

Suffice to say normal running service is resumed in Becky land :D

8.65 miles in 1:15 including a 48 minute 10K - not half bad if I do say so myself...could have gone longer but its soooo cold I didnt fancy it since my leg muscles were moaning and the last thing I want right now is to get injured :D

Have a good race Rich - happy running everyone else!

That is impressive Becky, but at the same time explained by your relative rest!:D :D

That should give you the boost in confidence you need to get really stuck back into your plans!:D

Must dash but great to see you're still in really good nick!:D :D

Thanks guys - had a total 'float' for the first 10k and didnt even noticed how cold it was until the freezing fog/sleet kicked in...cant wait to go out again tomorrow now...thinking about getting some weights in this avo as well - okay so I found something that has increased my motivation 10 fold when I couldnt sleep last night, but its a secret until London is done and dusted - get the 3:30 out the way first and then see :D

Now you are just teasing us, becky......!

I am going to cheat a bit today - due to ice, new trainers/blisters (despite plasters!) and bloomin cold - instead of doing my intended loop of 10 miles, I am going to drive to the smaller loop I did on Wednesday - that way I can stop without being too far away from the car at any one point, or I can keep going for as long as it feels fine.........

Plus it is a flat loop......the one I had earmarked today is a bit more hilly (that's why I am cheating somewhat!!)

    Will report back later :D

  • Well thats the 5K race done!

The aim was to dip under the previous best time of 21:09, but I don't know whether that was achieved due to having no way of timing it myself this morning.

So will have to wait for the results on the website later.

Times must have been affected today by the icy conditions though, it was still -4c at the end so there is a limit to how hard you can push your lungs in those conditions. So thats the excuse lined up in case its a terrible time!:p :p

Good luck Hypno, its not cheating if you're getting out there and doing something!:D

And come on Becky - spill!;)

Well done rich - I think that anyone who gets out there in below freezing conditions deserves a pat on the back!

I didn't cheat in the end - I ran round the lake that is near the ski club, so easy to drop the children off for training and then head straight out - I did three laps of the lake, a total of 7.75 miles before my blisters on blisters started to say "enough is enough".......when I took my socks off, I could see that my plasters had slipped, causing the problem, so I need to rectify that for next time.

It was more "trail running" than road running - a path round the lake that is packed mud and flint - so quite uneven, but not affected by slippy ice. The temperature according to the car was -3, but once I got going it was quite nice. There were several runners about and lots of people walking, and the frozen lake was very peaceful. (apart from my heavy footedness thumping and accompanied by my raspy breathing!)

My time was 1:19:04 or 10.19 average per mile, so I am quite pleased with that - just wished my blisters had not prevented me going round for another lap!
