My long sunday runs start at 9am when the children start skiing, but I don't find that too bad.

It is the thought of getting up at 5am and running before breakfast/work that beats me! I have, on many an occasion, set my alarm for earlier so that I can get my run out of the way, but on every occasion except 2 (in a 17 year time frame) I have gone back to sleep

I am sure it is one of those things that once you have done a couple of times suddenly doesn't seem that difficult!

(but I'll leave that to you to discover......!)

Hypno - I prefer to run before breakfast - otherwise I feel really heavy, plus it burns more fat that way :D

Sally - I wonder if you should just ease back into fartleking rather than trying to go for intervals straight away...dont want to push too hard too soon after your bad knee perhaps?

Well done on the run JJ - shame about cutting it short but at least it woke you up :D

Even the prospect of burning some of my (plentiful) excess fat can't get me moving any earlier!

    I am just lazy :o

Dont knock it - laziness is one of the best attributes when trying to become a decent runner.

Too many runners run too hard in training and dont rest enough - if only they knew how to be lazy they'd do much better!!:p:p

Phew...ok not quite as planned but not bad for a first hard session for *ahem* 5 weeks.

1.3 miles warm up 9.49 pace
1 mile fast 8.12 pace (fastest mile done yet)
    0.3 fast walk

I went into a fast walk and then realised that I should still be running before the next fast run. Tried to start fast run again and was not going to happen

    1.3 fast walk 11.36 pace

So around 4 miles done in total, now if I could keep that 8.12 pace up for 26 miles I would be very happy :rotfl:
Im not too disapointed as we did 5 miles intervals as such at run club on Monday and that combined with the 3 miles power walk legs are still a bit heavy.
    Onwards and Upwards
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well done on the session Sally - you'll be getting back into the hard ones in no time (hmmm does that sound rude?)

There are some positive signs, Sally, from the long run on Sunday showing that sustained pace of just over 9 minutes/mile is there and now, today, showing that outright speed is also improving.

Well, a really gentle 3.2 with one of my friends who's getting back into it at lunch (34mins) - it was MUDDY. She actually lost her shoe in the mud at one point, which made me laugh, anyway...

It's not much of a distance and slow by my standards, but I'm actually feeling it a bit...I don't know if slipping and sliding about uses more muscles or something, but I can definitely feel my quads are a little warm :)

Oooo, Sucky Mud - doesn't it make running fun?

You could well be aching in places you didn't know you had tomorrow!:p
