Its a bit pricey for an MSE er!
Having said that we have the Railway Children trains to play on - and that costs about £8 to go about 3 miles!!!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I didnt even look at the price - hahaha just shows why I'm no good at MSEing!
But then it is 5 courses and basically lasts all day - I guess its that once in a lifetime kind of thing - I'm just going to go down and look at it on the platformmuch cheaper!

Don't you need a dirty mac and a little notebook to become a trainspotter?:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

No problem...;)
I do love steam trains though...My granddad was a train driver and I still remember when I was younger asking about every train we got on 'is granddad driving today?' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
right back onto running - plans for pacing longer runs please - I like negative splits where I do the first half slower than the second, and use the first mile or two as warm up and then really crank it up about 3 miles from the end...0 -

Okay, thats on the right lines in the sense that you are easing into the run and only pushing when everything is thoroughly warmed up.
Negative splits! I'm impressed, thats proper running talk.
The only problem with talking about pacing and negative splits is that, apart from flat runs, the times can become quite misleading. What is required is equal effort as opposed to equal pace and a negative effort split instead of a negative pace split.
Thats probably as clear as mud, but my 10K yesterday was run at equal effort to mile 5 and negative effort split overall. But, in terms of pace it was all over the place (due to the undulations) and the time had a positive split:
1. 8:06
2. 8:37
3. 8:19
4. 9:18
5. 7:57
6. 8:33
0.2 8:20
1st 5K 26:09, 2nd 5K 26:21
So, basically, your approach is spot on if it refers to effort as oppose to actual time. If its completely flat they are one and the same thing!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Since I'm still working without a proper watch I cant time my miles anyway so yes I'm talking about effort0
