    Sorry, Sally, I didn't know I'd missed anything!!:o

To answer the question, a break of two weeks or so is no big deal in the overall scheme of things.

You would ignore the lost training and just pick up where you should be as of today. However, because you're easing back into things view each session as 'potential'. In other words, if you're down to do 6 miles, and can only manage 4, don't fight it - mark it down as 4 and move on to the next session.

Thanks Coach...thought Id upset you for some reason then ;)
Right I have a Dr's appt Wednesday morning but I am going to try and fit in a run if all goes ok.

I can so understand how athletes get frustrated when they are injured..especially when it is their income. You see everyone else improving/getting quicker and your sat on the sideline  .

    chickadee you have inspired me.....

as you know my goal at the moment is to run the FLM - hopefully in a time of about 4 hrs 30.

Then.....inspired by chickadee.....I am going to work on a sub 50 10k........when I was running before (a squillion years ago) my best ever 10k was 54 mins. It would be fab to get to be quicker than I was when I was 21. Perhaps this can be my goal for my 40th birthday or something!

    But first......milage for the FLM.......

Well I'm 42 and I aim to be faster than I was at 21 - so thats two of us on a mission!

  • Sally - Have you got those insoles yet?

They really are not a gimmick - remember I've been using them for 25 years and have not had any knee problems. I don't think you could build mileage as quickly and to the same levels without them.

    But its only my opinion!

    Exactly!

35 for women, 40 for men are the ages of veteranhood!

I was just pondering that question about what speeds was I running at 21 to compare and then I realised that I never thought I was particularly fast.

Despite running 55:30 for 10 miles (5:30 miling) and 33:30 for 10K (5:23 miling) I wasn't even in the top 3 runners in our household! And by a long way!

I never got below 9 min miles :o And that was with running 4 or 5 times a week - just shows I was more interested in the milage rather than any sort of quality/speed work.....

I want to try and do more of the "fancy stuff" this time round, and see if I can beat my previous stuff!

(a long way to go yet though!! and it is very early days!!)

    LOL

When I say 'household', I mean our Uni household.

There were 6 runners out of the 10 of us.

Three were sub 50 minute 10 mile runners, including one who was a 2-12 marathon runner and got called up for the Commonwealth Games.

So, its all relative - you can feel (very) slow with my times as they were!
