Thanks for the butt-kicking girls, I think after Wednesday, I realised I really do need to go to the doctors - I am going to make an appointment this morning as there is also another thing I'm worried about (also related to the running I think), so I do need to get things checked out. I'm a bit scared tbh.

Because I'd had so many asthma-free runs, I had just put the early problems down to me not being used to controlling my breathing while running, but now I'm not so sure.

Wish me luck today, I really think I might need it.

All the very best for when you go Snaggles, but don't worry yourself too much about it as you may be fine anyway, then it could easily all have been wasted energy. Whatever happens, you can't change it so don't fret! You may well get a clean bill of (apart from the asthma) health anyway, but just need a little treatment tweaking along the way.

All the very best and remember, we're ALL here for you! :)

Thanks Sue - I have to go for an ECG  so I'm not sure if I dare run this weekend or not. The GP says it's very unlikely there's a problem with my heart, and the symptoms I have been having are probably down to the stress I have been under recently, but as there's a bit of a family history of heart and blood pressure problems, it needs to be checked out. :o

My asthma being worse, my vision going blurry sometimes, the neck pain I've been having, getting pins and needles etc are all pointing to it being stress.

More Hugs coming your way snaggles xx

The good thing is, (always looking on the bright side!) that if it is stress that is causing your symptoms, then the running will actually help them, so once you have ruled out anything major, you can look forward to getting back into your running, and it gives you the opportunity to clear your head and release some of those happy hormones!

Until you get the all clear, though, just to err on the sid of caution, you should take it easy - how about power walking instead? I know you walk a lot with the buggy etc, but I mean a proper walk to replace your run for the moment?

also, jaffa cakes are very good for stress, in my experience.....and they can be bought without a prescription :D

I like your thinking Hypno, thanks!

To be honest, I have been too upset to eat jaffa cakes (I know!), so there is an untouched packet in the cupboard. I thought it's days were numbered yesterday, but I got it out, looked at it, then put it back away......what the hell is wrong with me??

Power walk is a good idea. I went for a walk yesterday actually, although I wasn't thinking very clearly when I set off, and high heeled boots and a skirt are probably not the best thing to go walking in, especially in high winds..... :o:o

Now I am VERY worried about you, Snaggles. The Jaffa cakes went back in the cupboard  This requires serious medical intervention, or at the very least 12 months of counselling..........

I still see jaffa cakes when I look at the halloween banner at the top of the page though, so perhaps all is not lost.

I guess it's a good thing, although there are positives and negatives - I bought some lovely jeans a couple of weeks ago and was very pleased that a size 14 was such a good fit, thanks to all the running. Now they are falling down.

Good news with the jeans! You will be in a 12 before you know it, for sure!

Snaggles hun you make sure you take good care of yourself. I know exactly how you are feeling and its amazing how you just don't have any desire to eat and when you do you still seem to loose weight (I could really do with it right now!) It will pass hun and you will be in a better place soon I promise!
Now pass the jaffa cakes here....yum yum yum!

Have just bought myself some sorbathane thingys :) going to also buy myself a knee support. I was lying in bed this morning thinking about when my knee started to hurt and then realised it was after the 2 runs I did where I alternated on running on grass and road and after I really felt the difference in the muscles. Just hadn't associated it with the knee pain and not sure if its related at all.?

    Right enough of my ramblings

Hi Sally, I was thinking about your knee problem and wondered if it might be related to your shoes. If your running shoes are a bit worn out or if they aren't quite right for the way you run they could be the cause of the problems. It wouldn't be noticeable at first perhaps, but as you increase the mileage the constant pounding will take its toll on your joints if they are not quite aligned right. I had a blister on my foot once and because I was trying to run on the outside of my foot to minimise the pain from the blister I ended up with a minor knee problem as I wasn't running with the correct alignment. Nothing like your present problems but it may be worth checking.

Hope you are soon up and running again soon.

Chickadee - That sounds like a session that worked out just fine for your purposes. With your intervals being on Monday it would be expected that your worst day for stiffness in the thighs would have been Wednesday. From what you said about yesterday's run (especially pushing on the hills) is it fair to say that you'd pretty much recovered from Monday?

Yes I was definitely recovered from Monday. I enjoyed it too. Having now completed a week of the new programme, I think the easy Wednesday run is essential to get the cobwebs out of my legs. You really know what you are doing don't you Rich?

Today I did the first of my long runs, 10m. It was a beautiful morning and I had planned my route so I was really looking forward to it. My route had some quite testing hills but I managed them OK and really enjoyed the downhills. My legs were quite tired after about 8 miles but I still did it in 1:38 so I am very pleased with the training so far. No foot problems or injuries *touch wood* and a generally happy feeling all round.

Next weekend I will be slightly off plan as I have a school governor training day all day on Saturday and my OH is doing the Lancaster half marathon on the Sunday so I thought I'd join him and do the race as well (but in my head it will be a training run). I am only scheduled for 8 miles next weekend so I will be over that and I realise that the Monday intervals will suffer but hopefully I'll still have time to make that up.

Lots of good work going on here guys. Lets keep it up!

Snaggles - (((hugs))) I hope you are feeling better soon. Do try to keep running, it will help keep the other things in your life in perspective. (Been there).
