Have a great time with Bunny Maz, and your brother too of course ;)
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

My run didn't go quite as planned - set off and got about 2.5k, then developed a MASSIVE blister on my heel so had to limp back to the car and go home - I'm going back again this evening, avec beaucoup de plasters, to give it another go.

ps I have got my train ticket booked for Friday and have sorted out a shift swap for Saturday...woo wooooooooo!! :j

Okay Sammy checking in with a race report.....

My first mult terrain run......OH MI GOD! There were 50 in the run and looked like fairly serious runners. First bit over road then through a newly cropped field! Then through more fields with long grass and about ten styles with barbed wire......Then through a wood, with nettles and brambles then another field a farm and then another boggy field! I have never run five miles on that kind of terrain...

First my legs hurt then my breathing and the constant jarring and having to watch where my feet went was hard work. Was quite dehydrated but I finished, I wasn't last - very nearly though......I was third from last, but it was a good race and the weather was absolutely gorgeous and I got great satisfaction from doing it. I think I did the race in just under an hour but will have to wait for the results to find out for definite... I forgot my watch!

I need to figure out the water thing, I had only had two cups of tea before doing the race, I can't take water while I am running cos I find the sloshing quite offputting and I daren't drink too much before the race because I am worried about needing the loo..

Need to look for another race now!

Sammy 5 llbs not fair....I haven't lost a single pound and really going to start calorie counting to make sure I am eating enough on days I run and not too much on days I don't. Once I know what sort of quantities and foods I can get away with I might get somewhere.

Sally, thats why I went to see the personal trainer....When i run I just don't lose any weight, but she is concentrating on building muscle, she says that will burn more calories, and it seems to be working, I can see a massive difference in my muffin top after only two weeks. I have also booked an appointment with the nutritionist as I struggle with eating properly when I am running - I don't no wether to eat or not sometimes!!!

At the running club the marine (gorgeous) said a run with him, plus some weight training and a couple of classes should see the weight drop off....

Well done Sammy - if they were pretty serious runners you did really well finishing 3rd from last!!! ;)

Multi terrain is tough - I find getting into a rhythm on the grass really hard!

Its great that you're looking for another race already...

I agree about the water thing...but I find even if I need the loo when I start running (i.e. I forget to go before I start) it goes away after a few miles! I only take water now on longer runs...maybe you need one of those platypus things (its on my xmas list!)...its supposed to be for walking I think but here:

Anyway, a great run! Hope you're really pleased with yourself - you deserve to be!

Well done Sammy - you're a fell runner in the making! (Braver than me :p).

It sounded tough, but what a lovely day for it!

You should come out of it stronger and with a sun tan so well worth the effort.
