    Morning all,

Just got back from my jaunt around hyde park...whoops I forgot they were holding a half there today - barriers everywhere got completely lost and loads of people standing around in their running gear staring at me run - not nice!

Still I managed 7.5 (got thrown off my route) - looking forward to my first rest day in 6 days tomorrow!

Oh I know why Rich was up so early tee hee...it has something to do with Japan!

glad your run was good Sally!

Well done Becky, even if you did get lost! Enjoy your rest day tomorrow, I have one too...well will have to cycle 2 miles to work but that doesn't really count

So you weren't really that naughty then Chris ;) Hows your running going BTW

    No I was good for a change:D

I am finding running heavy going at the moment. I am enjoying it but I am finding it tiring. Routine runs are quite ardous. The stress of recent weeks seems to have taken its toll. My approach is going to be more runs but shorter distance. I had been getting out a couple times of week and doing 6 or 7 miles. If I can get out three times a week and do about 4 it would be good for now. Hopefully within a month or so I should be feeling more like my old self

    Grrrr just lost my post

Right been out this morning, got up early in fact it was still dark and SOOOO foggy. Planned a different route this morning and was a lovely run in fact I found it easy today *runs and hides* and legs strong and not out of breath. Managed the 8 miles in 1:24 so around 10.30 per mile compared to last week 11.35 per mile (with a quick toilet stop) so feel there is some progress there. Although I know Rich these runs are for distance not speed, felt much quicker and stronger over this distance.

Rich why on earth where you up so early this morning....actually not sure I want to know;)

    God those endorphines are pumping

    Well done, Sally.

There's nothing wrong with the runs getting quicker as long as the effort is kept low and steady.

If you think back to last Sunday when you managed 8.4 instead of 10, at that time you sounded quite disappointed but it was inevitable you would get a decent training effect from a run of that distance. You got that training effect today - so you're now seeing that even one run can bring you on quite significantly as long as you let it bed in properly. Felt 'quicker and stronger' is the perfect description of the training effect.

I would expect your next attempt at 10 to be relatively easy even though only last week it was a little bit too much.

The early rise was to watch the Japanese F1. Why can't they change to a night race like the last race to fit in with our schedules?:p

Pumped up on endorphins and feeling good! - The long runs are only going to get longer so watch out!:p

Just take each run as is Chris. Im sure you will get back into it eventually but you have had a lot to deal with so not suprising your not quite back to your old self yet!

Fancy them not checking whether you had a training run planned before scheduling a half marathon for today! :p. At least you weren't tempted to join in.

That run sounds good. 18 miles in 48 hours after having heavy legs mid-week is a sign of the recovery process working well.

    Enjoy the rest day!

yeah thanks for that. There is no hurry. I sometimes have to remind my self what I am always telling others - we came to running because we enjoy it, so there is no need to make a chore out of it.

Chris, I'm constantly trying to remind myself of that - I nearly always enjoy it once I'm out there, but when I think about getting ready and leaving the house to run, I nearly always struggle with it

Anyway, my plan for this weekend as I knew I was going out on Friday night, was to have a nice quiet relaxing day on Saturday and then be all refreshed and ready for a run today. As it turned out, there was a small encounter with a pub, a couple of football games on TV, a few beers and a large kebab yesterday, so not quite as 'refreshed' as I should have been this morning! So, I had to wait for a late breakfast to settle down then I went out for a run - lovely sunny day so no way I was wasting it. Was planning to do the same 5k route as last Sunday but was running along and for some reason decided to go down a different road and just go where I felt like going. Ran up and down a few streets I've not been on before - thinking more about looking around than the actual running - then through the park and back home, where I decided I hadn't had enough yet, so did a few loops round local streets (thinking if anyone was looking out that I must look like a crazy person running round in circles :D). No idea how far I'd been till I got in and measured on the map - turns out I did 5.5k (just over 3.4 miles) and had been out for 35 mins. Feel pretty good apart from some tightness in one calf, but that's calming down after a stretch, a shower and a bit of ibuprofen gel :)

Sounds like everyone is doing well - good luck Sammy for your 5 miler today (although you'll be finished by now of course!)

    Well done Squirrel

I had a few beers yesterday. Wasn't planning to run today though. Better keep off the ale today however so I am ok for tomorrow. I often run and see where it takes me. It adds variety to the training programme.
