Hello everyone, I thought I would pop in to give you my results from today's run, but you already know! Technology is amazing. Results up on the website before I got home.

Anyway, I can't tell you how thrilled I was with my time. Apart from a bit of tightness to the side of my knee and a bit of chafing :o I'm feeling fine, and over the moon with the race.

Conditions were absolutely perfect,a cool morning but not a spot of rain and no wind to speak of. The organisation was brilliant as well. Plenty of loos, good information, lots of bands on the course and loads of supporters too. I couldn't have asked for more.

I have run the GNR a couple of times before but this was the quickest. I was really surprised too because I haven't done much distance in training. I think the furthest I ran was about 9 miles. But some days you have a good run and other days you don't, and today I had a good run. The mile markers kept coming and I kept running. I suppose that's all there is to say. The tough bit was the 9 - 11 mile section, which is uphill, but as soon as I saw the sea I put everything into it and just kept on going.

By the way, OH did 1:39:25, which he was also very pleased with.

Thanks for all your messages of congratulations too. It was great to log in and see them up there!

    Well done Chickadee!

It was right that you were looking for about 2-30 wasn't it?

Well the predictors all said in the 2:15 to 2:20 range, but that was predicted from much shorter distances. As I said, I would have been happy with sub 2:30 because I hadn't done a structured training plan and no runs over about 9 miles, so I couldn't really predict how I would feel in those last few miles.

I did feel tired, but so did everyone else as far as I could tell :D . On the last mile along the sea front at South Sheilds I had to drag all my reserves out just not to stop.

But now I have a nice blue t-shirt and a weighty medal to flash at work tomorrow! :T

Oh god, that last mile can be cruel! In fact it seems longer than the rest of the race put together sometimes. :p

Well, you beat all expectations then so you must be feeling pretty chuffed with yourself right now.

Try just wearing the medal without uttering a word about it - see how long it takes for someone to ask!

You get a goody bag for RFL?????? :j

I can't wait to do RFL - my Gran died of cancer just before my daughter was born, and I think she would be so proud if I could do it in her name. If she was here, she would have come to cheer me on for sure.
